I was that book geek hanging out at the library every Saturday. I stepped through those doors into a magical world where I could be anyone, do anything I wished. It's no surprise this led to a successful writing career in multiple genres.I reside with my husband Chris and two fur babies, Max & Maisie. I still stand firm in the belief that Fairies do exist. Warrior Unchartered Ascent - Sherry Hutchison

    Prologue

The Nephilim known as Tim Aldaine, ran and with a graceful jump, lunged off the top of a taller building to land on a smaller one located just above an alley, spreading his wings just before the dark lurkers made their way around the corner. He adjusted the dark glasses that hid the holy glint that glared brightly against the shadowy darkness against the night sky. Crouching out of view, he retracted his wings as he watched the approach of the dark souls, known as dark lurkers. Dark lurkers are lost souls that are destined to meet a fate worse than death.

Tim, and many others like him were scattered around the world. Their mission was to protect the innocent as well as unaware souls, guarding them from evil. Unfortunately, the lost souls didn’t always listen, to err upon the side of caution, until it was too late.

His cerulean blue eyes reflected the holy light brightly, repelling many dark lurkers. Some lurkers were brave enough to try a fight; however, they always lost the battle. He shook his head and let out a sigh at how corrupted and damaged the world had become just before his attention was diverted back to those who entered the alley. There she was his assignment for the night. A tiny wisp of a girl whose time on earth had come and gone. She was completely oblivious to the fact that she was the walking dead. Tim didn’t know her name, didn’t need it and didn’t want it. It only made it harder, and he’d found it was better not to get emotionally involved.

It may be the wrong way to feel that way but nevertheless, this was his take on things at the moment. He avoided getting involved with earthly emotions. Being a Nephilim was very new to him.

Later on, he’d change his mind on a few things, but as of now this was his motto: Don’t get personally involved with earthly things.

His assignment was to collect her and hand her over to the Archangel, Michael, since she’d been found worthy of wings. Tim was to help her cross over tonight.

The men following her were of no consequence to him; their numbers made no difference; he would not fail in his task. They would relent her soul or parish anyway. There was no hope for them. They would never understand something as clearly as the light of heaven. They had rejected not only Michaels offer but other earthly angels' offer, more than once.

Tim stood still as he reached an arm over his right shoulder, withdrawing a large silver sword given to him by Michael himself. He stretched his beautiful dark silver wings as he let out a piercing scream, STOP! It resonated throughout the night air. However, these doomed souls would be the only ones to hear him. He gracefully flew down landing not ten feet in front of them. It was only then that he removed his glasses, so they could see his eyes, seeing his true essence. One of them was smart enough to run while the others merely laughed.

He pointed to the timid girl. You must walk over here to me. Do not be afraid, I am here to take you home. You have been shown grace. You must hurry now! He turned back to the men with a sneer, The rest of you may run and die another day or die now; it makes no difference to me.

Tim grimaced as the dark lurkers made their decision and lunged forward to do battle. The battle was brief, the lurkers easily defeated, leaving Tim with a slight taste of bitterness as he re-placed the sword into its sheath and gently pulled the crying girl into his arms, so he could deliver her to Michael, and another angel who happened to be his biological twin, Alyssa.

Before flying off, he glanced down to see several piles of what looked to be black ashes lay smoldering on the dirty pavement. He would never get used to seeing souls vanquished to Lucifer and his league of banished angels even though they’d had so many chances to come over to the light. The wailing coming from damned souls even though only for a few seconds remained with one long after they tried to take comfort in sleep.

It’s ok child, he whispered. I promise; you will never live in fear again.

    Chapter 1.

    Nephilim, Tim Aldaine

    Soul Searcher

Tim didn’t choose his path in life; being a Nephilim, an uninvited; assigned as a warrior for lost souls on earth. However, he embraced this honor bestowed upon him. It was an honor given only to a few, as his sister, Alyssa and Archangel Michael explained to him. He’d never had a choice. His future was written for both him and his twin sister Alyssa before they were born. The fact that earthly decisions made by evil people had gotten in the way of their true destiny; didn’t stop divine intervention from coming into play.

Archangel Michael searched for years to complete his assignment and was thus rewarded when all the stars fell into alignment. He found both Timothy, aka Aiden, and Alyssa when their earthly lives as they knew it ended on a cold November night at the age of seventeen.

His birth name was Timothy Aldaine, which as he’d recently explained to his parents, he preferred to simply just be called Tim. He actually didn’t feel like a young man named Tim. He had no idea how he should feel; however, after being raised as Aiden Aetos for seventeen years in the Bronx of New York City, it’d only been a brief time now that Tim had started using his birth name as was only right.

His twin Alyssa and he were joined mere months ago in a weird twist of fate ordained by the heavens above. Alyssa is now a full-fledged Angel, aiding the great Archangel Michael in retrieving and mentoring saved souls. She grew up thinking her twin brother died at birth, while he never even knew that he had a sister or loving parents. Tim had been kidnapped at birth and was switched with some poor unfortunate baby who had passed away. Yes, unfortunately, this kind of thing really did happen.

Alyssa met with an unfortunate accident in Danbury, Connecticut, and passed away on a Saturday evening at the exact time that Tim was beaten and shot before his body thrown overboard into the dark murky water, in the city he grew up in. He’d been running with a street gang to survive; and on the night of his death, it was all due to refusing to take a gun and kill a young boy and girl who were recruited for the gang. The kids were starving and just wanted food for their families. He tried to save them and to this day, he still prayed that they were able to get away.

There’s so much more to this story but suffice it to say, Alyssa and Tim were brought together on a cold rocky shoreline in the dead of night on a cold November night in New York. She was granted grace and given wings while he had to walk a path and find forgiveness in his heart.

They’d only had seven days together, but it seemed a lifetime as they learned Tim was actually alive and in a coma in an area hospital. He was rejoined with their parents, as their son, whom they’d thought dead all these years, just as they were planning a funeral for Alyssa, in Danbury, Connecticut.

It was a strange quirk of fate. He’d struggled with any kind of faith or belief in the unknown at first but seeing and experiencing miracles is believing.

Meeting the great Archangel, Michael and seeing your sister and he both in their amazing essence and wings, was not to be denied. In a very short time, Tim appreciated the second chance he’d been given, gratefully accepting his new fate to be not only a soul searcher but respected warrior, here on earth. Michael declared Father above was overjoyed, and this meant that everyone was happy. He owed them his life.

Tim was given a chance to know what it felt like to live as a beloved son with his rightful parents instead of fighting off a drunk who only wanted to hurt him or anyone around him.

He has beautiful silvery dark-gray wings, which matched the color of the other warriors as well. They numbered in the thousands. They are everywhere, but so are the dark lurkers and demons condemning people and stealing their souls.

There is an internal war waging on earth; all around unknowing people going about their daily chores, some happy, living in blissful ignorance, while many others understand what is happening as the sign of the cross is secretly etched somewhere on their upper bodies. Tim pulled himself out of his mental monologue as he flew into the old park area. It was dark back here where the trees had been allowed to grow up. Most people stayed up front where all the bright lamp posts and benches were placed along a jogging path. Sometimes they met on top of the library, which was his preference, for some reason.

As a young boy, Tim had often dreamt of going into the library and reading all the interesting books. He was never allowed that simple luxury until now. He volunteered twice a month on Saturdays to read in the reading group he joined. That’s where he’d found this young girl as she ran inside the library one day all disheveled and dirty.

The girl remained impassive, absolutely unaware of what was happening as she lay limply in his arms while he landed gently to be met by Alyssa and Michael. Tim squinted a little as his eyes adjusted to the bright golden glow that emanated from Michael, not that it was Michael’s fault, it’s all part of how pure and high up the heavenly ladder he was. He could never understand how others were unable to see the brilliance shining from the
