Signature Sound - Signature Sound
Introduction
We never truly know what will emerge when we first plant a seed.
We might have an idea, an inkling.
What sprouts is not only a result of the soil in which it was planted, but also the hands that cultivate it.
We dig in with our hands, taking with us remnants under our fingernails.
We water, then we wait.
A process that asks of us a great deal of faith, that our habitual toil will one day become the makings of a budding relationship.
This was a seed planted on route, a blossoming conversation volleying on piqued ears.
We were on the road to vision quest.
Four days and nights on a mountainside.
No food.
No phone.
No books, pens, or paper.
Alone with a sleeping bag and Mother Nature.
It’s amazing how much you are able to hear when you remove the noise.
Signature Sound is the fruit born from an honouring of listening.
A deep reverence to an art lost amidst a sea of hollow words.
When we tune our ears in this way, we give ourselves the opportunity to hear unique voices that are buried beneath the mimicry.
This is a collection of songs that only these voices are capable of singing.
A harmonic response to being in rhythm and coherence with our own nature.
A fire inside.
Spirited.
Animate.
Alive.

Dr Emoto is coming for dinner
You fool!
He spat the words over his shoulder as he stormed out of the bedroom. She shrank a little as they reached her. Curling her toes. Her hands in tight fists. The sound of the front door closing hard echoed through the house. She heard him stomp down the path, muttering under his breath. Then there was silence, for just a second after he slammed the car door. The brief pause broken by music blaring, the engine revving, and tyres screeching down the street.
Slowly and carefully, she unfolded her body until she was sitting on the edge of the bed, her feet touching the cold unsympathetic floor. She sighed and with much effort, lifted herself to standing.
Savouring the stillness of the house, she made her way to the bathroom, undressed and turned the shower on. While she waited for the water to gather heat, she stood at the vanity, her hands resting on the edge of the porcelain sink. She leaned towards the mirror.
You fool,
she whispered. She watched her body twitch. You fool,
she said a little louder, again and again, until the steam made her disappear.
After showering she dressed and the physical pain of her body was almost unbearable. She swallowed her medication and managed to get to the kitchen where she sat for a while. Breathing. Waiting. Eventually her body settled, the drugs began to work and she could move again. She went about
