    INTRODUCTION

Jho Low, a Malaysian national, is a mysterious figure who became popular in the clubbing scenes of Las Vegas and New York City in late 2009. One could not help but wonder where Low was obtaining so much money to waste in a single night when he was surrounded by billionaires and eager to spend a cool $2 million at the baccarat tables. Low made a strong effect on many people and bewildered practically everyone who got to know him.

Wharton Business School, which is the oldest and most prestigious business school in the United States and is located in Pennsylvania, provides its aspirants with the necessary instruction to become powerful capitalists in exchange for a little more than $50,000 per year; in other words, the school provides a crash course in neoliberalism.

Jho Low was enrolled at the institution, but he never showed up for class. He was a mild-mannered young guy who thought himself an Asian prince. However, in order to pull off a master swindle, he required access to the richest families in the nation.

And, in point of fact, he was successful: the connections he made while working at the institution led to his introduction to the relatively unexplored world of oil money, corrupt state investment funds, and high-level financial transactions.

With the help of this parallel apprenticeship, he rose through the ranks to become the leader of a prosperous company with the stated mission of bettering the lives of Malaysians through various social development schemes. In reality, however, the company's sole purpose was to personally enrich Low so that he could take advantage of his connections with sheikhs and politicians.

It is difficult to believe all that took place after Low graduated and left Wharton. When he was just 28 years old, with no actual business experience, and in front of everyone's eyes, he perpetrated the largest scam of the century only a few years after he graduated from college. If you are interested in discovering, in a step-by-step fashion, how he accomplished it and what ultimately led to his being discovered, then you should read this.

Columnist Tom Wright is well known for his reporting on the assassination of Osama bin Laden and the collapse of the Rana Plaza plant in Bangladesh in 2013. Both events occurred in 2013.
