About this ebook
The school poetry anthology is a platform to encourage fair confidence and maintain high standards of competence and service in the learning opportunities. It will also help to cooperate with similar educational stakeholders in and around Choekhorling Middle Secondary School and among other schools of the country to further the writing. Further, this will also encourage the widest possible distribution of opportunities for aspiring writers at Choekhorling MSS in particular, and throughout the country in general. This activity will also extend the actions and usefulness of the team as may seem desirable. We are sure to bring improvement in the field of creations and expressions of members of this school. In the coming days, we would also like to form groups of members with specialized interests, and to promote and protect within the framework of the common interest and the special interests of such groups.

Songs From Bhutan - Choekhorling Middle Secondary School, Bhutan
Foreword
Choekhorling Middle Secondary School saw various literary activities including the National Reading Week which was celebrated as a whole school approach in which every student participated. Yet another milestone in the history of this school to revamp in the field of creativity is the ‘Anthology of Poems’. As the principal of the school, I am privileged to write the foreword for the anthology that the school is publishing. This anthology of poems is the collection of poems written by staff and students. In fact, a lot of beautiful stories, poems and essays were written in the course of teachers’ and students’ teaching-learning process, but, most of the time these valuable written works are deprived of opportunity to come into the public domain and reach a wider audience. Nevertheless, this time with the inspiration and initiative taken by Mr. Lobzang Dorji, an attempt has been made to publish an online anthology of poems. As a teacher, the endeavor by Mr. Lobzang is an avenue for the inquisitive learners of the present time to share their experiences, views and opinions. It is to encourage our young learners to fathom and explore hidden skills and create awareness on the availability of online platforms to showcase their capabilities.
This anthology is the spectrum covering a wide range of topics portraying diverse, unique culture and values of people and country. Besides, they also express the aspirations and expectations of the poets. Out of more than three hundred poems written for the festival, only a small number of screened and selected poems are included in the anthology.
Since this is the first opportunity or attempt for most of the students and staff to publish their writing, I anticipate that the quality may not be up to the international level. Nevertheless, these poems have their own beauty and uniqueness which make it worth reading. Therefore, I strongly recommend all poetry lovers to read and experience in one’s own ways.
Lastly, I extend my sincere appreciation and thanks to Mr. Lobzang Dorji for the noble initiative and to the teachers involved in the process of editing and exploring the opportunity for the publication of the anthology. Further, I extend my wishes and admiration to all the students and staff for diligently participating in the poetry festival.
