The door closed with a muted thump. I pulled Ben’s hand leading him deeper into the suite.

Author’s note: So... maybe Ben wasn’t sleeping on the plane all that time after all. He told me he was listening to music and didn’t want to disturb me while I write. (What a sweetie!) He asked what I was writing and I guess I didn’t really want to tell him yet. He didn’t mind. He just changed the topic and asked me if I got to write much. I told him the truth- No. He says to make sure I took the time for the things I loved and asked me to never let him get in the way of my writing?? I’m still not sure I believe any of this is happening.

I sat at the writing desk in my suite staring out at Central Park and thinking about the last 12 hours. It had been an unbelievable whirlwind. I still wasn’t exactly sure what it was that had made me go but, so far, I couldn’t have been happier with my decision to walk away from my job and follow a stranger onto the plane.

Ben had a car waiting when we got to New York, but calling it a car is like calling luxury yacht a rowboat. Ben had a Rolls Royce with a driver. There was a phone and a computer in the back of the car. The driver handed Ben a folder as he held the door for us. Ben spent the ride flipping through papers, clicking on the keyboard and talking quietly into the phone while I took in the sights.

When the car stopped, a beautiful young assistant named Patricia greeted us. Ben introduced me as his friend and instructed Patricia to get me settled get me everything I needed. Ben was polite. He said goodbye, thanked me for coming, and told me he would see me later. Patricia took the seat across from me and we headed to a hotel. There, Patricia explained, I could shop. That is, of course, unless I actually wanted to go to the stores. I had no idea what she meant so
