- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I love this book, incredibly as a new believer God revealed this book to me in a dream, I seen the book cover and was reading the pages it had the words, The Thessalonian Man and the cover depicted a dark blue background with a cartoon man walking on the cover so upon a quick google search i figured out quite quickly this was the book, upon reading it also i was more reassured this was the book as it's targeted to new believers and a lot of what was written felt intentional and personal. I'm very grateful to have found and read it, its defintley helped me a lot, although I'm not a man but a female 19 year old uni student :) . To the Author: Thank you sooo much, i pray God blesses you abundantly that your book continues to change many people's lives, I'll definitely be sharing it with friends and my Christian union at my university, God bless!

INTRODUCTION
JUST GETTING STARTED
Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
(1 Thessalonians 5:11 NIV)
When I first made the decision to dedicate my life to Christ, I had the false expectation of being completely transformed the minute I emerged from the murky water at my baptism ceremony. For reasons that now seem absurd, I fully expected to instantly become a new man. As if someone had waved a magic wand, I assumed that my sinful desires of lust, pride, and greed would simply dissipate into the ether. I was sorely disappointed just a few hours later when some trivial circumstance in my life triggered an angry outburst.
As the days and weeks progressed, I discovered that very little had changed in my behavior. My emotions, desires, and proclivity towards sinful things had not changed in the least. The only thing that my baptism changed was the promise that God had made to me that I would enjoy eternal life with him when I accepted his gift of salvation. By faith, I received the Holy Spirit, who promises to work by God’s grace to transform my life. But that is a process that takes a lifetime, not a moment. Unfortunately, I was getting off to a rough start in my new journey.
As you will see in Paul’s letters to the Thessalonians, new believers need some very specific guidance to help them grow and mature in the early stages of their relationship with Christ. Every one of us needs encouragement. Whether it comes from a parent, coach, pastor, or a complete stranger, we all thrive on the reassurance that comes with an encouraging word or a pat on the back. This is especially important for new Christians. Because of our wounded nature and our initial apprehension toward putting our complete trust in God, the first few steps of living a Christ-centered life can seem very uncertain. If you’re like me, you might be starting off with unreasonable expectations or perhaps you’ve not quite figured out how to incorporate the dynamics of this new relationship into the tidy compartments of your complicated life.
Surprisingly, Paul’s letters to the Thessalonians taught me that followers of Christ may need to experience a degree of suffering to truly achieve the spiritual maturity needed to fully understand the gift we’ve been given. Though subtler and less violent than what Paul’s early believers encountered, new believers, even today, face forms of persecution related to their decision to follow Christ. When I first converted, even my best friends would ridicule me about the inconsistencies in my life. They would call me a hypocrite for saying one thing and doing another. Instead of encouraging me along the path, they made me insecure and doubtful.
Instead of getting new friends, I became determined to prove to them that I was capable of becoming a better person and turning my life around. These same friends would accuse me of being a pretender
and those words had a painful sting to them. The only way I could prove them wrong was to find a way to resist temptation, be intentional about my walk, and draw myself closer to
