EXPLORE AUSTRALIA
Explore Australia—our dragons are real, not just a fantasy. Our frilled neck lizard welcomes you to the Kimberley.
There are twenty-eight varieties of dragon lizards in the Kimberley. The Frilled Lizard is the most famous and he is also easy to see in the hotter months of the year. You may see him sitting on the road. Hi is tree dwelling and easily camouflaged so you may have difficulty finding him when he isn’t basking in the sunshine.

ABOUT GRAY NOMAD
This Gray Nomad Guide to the Kimberley—listed by Lonely Planet Guide as the 2nd most beautiful and desirable region in the world—will keep you on well-maintained roads, where you are unlikely to damage your precious towing vehicle and caravan and where you can take your dog on a lead.
Gray Nomad: About Us.
My husband Reg is in his seventies and I’m in my sixties. We both developed a passion for travel in childhood. We spent out courtship touring together. We love the touring life and nature.
My name is Kathy Shell, the fine artist. I also go by the pen names Ryn Shell, the fiction writer of the The Stolen Years series, and Reg and just to confuse everyone except me, call ourselves Gray Nomads
and spell Gray with an A for Active Nomad.
We have been travelling together and have been married for forty-six years. Indigo is our current four-legged companion. She is now eight years old and has lived her life travelling in a caravan and loves it.
We bought our current rig—a Toyota 4WD Workmate Troop Carrier and an off-highway, en-suit model Ecotourer Slipstream caravan—for our ruby wedding anniversary trip around Australia, and we have been travelling nearly full time ever since. I am fortunate that my painting and writing career has always fitted in around travel. Reg is my capable proofreader, and the fisherman of our touring team.
This Kimberley tour followed an excursion in the Northern Territory up through Central
