    Dedication

I dedicate this book to my dear sister Pat. We have always loved each other as siblings. We would watch and care for each other. I have had some health problems for a few years. Since last January, I could see the field marshal on the floor when I was being cared for. She explained, there are only the two of us left now. Her loving care has always been there. Thanks Patty.

I want to mention her daughter Rhonda that has been of invaluable help to me and of great encouragement, to me personally and by her life.

Furthermore, my loving daughter, Shawna and my loving son, John. There love helped me to have a spark to live, they have always been there for me, through hospitalized for about 5 months, they were a mainstay. Thanks to my children, and all my family and friends for your prayers.

    Preface

The book of Hebrews shows the purpose of the Bible, and the scope of God’s work, in the lives of all His children, all in one book. By no means am I saying that Hebrews is a condensation of the Bible, it is not. All the individual books of the Bible are of equal importance and cannot be separated, eliminated, or condensed. They are linked with the blood sacrifice of Jesus the Christ.

In the book of Hebrews, you will find the following: GOD’s purpose in creation, the presence of GOD in all of man’s existence, the Son, the faithfulness, the closeness, the love, the steadfastness, the interceding, the covenant, the sacrifice, the will, the evidence, the throne, and the grace of GOD. The touch of GOD on man is seen in full view. What you wont see is the final view of man, as seen in the last of the book of Revelation.

The finality of GOD’s resolve is seen on the unbelieving, as is the fatherly love and care for those that are His. Seen in Hebrews is each person of the Trinity, in careful view of the office they hold in all of creation. All this, without compromising their person as to their chosen position in relation to man.

GOD (all in uppercase letters) is used only once in the New Testament; how fitting for it to be the first word of Hebrews. In the Old Testament, it was used because GOD (again uppercase letters) personally had to see mankind’s depravity Genesis 6:5. his heart was only evil continually. He had to judge. We see in the New Testament it is about LIFE. His desire from before Adam was ‘life’ with Him.

In the Bible, the many names that GOD uses, is to express His attitude for their creation, bringing redemption to mankind, while bringing judgment on sin.

I have included many verses of scripture. Those not included, I am trusting you will turn to, when prompted. I use f after a verse number, to mean and also the next verse, such as (Titus 1:15f). My wife was wondering. Like the older writers, I use ‘ff’ to show usesage from a verse to the end of the chapter. For example John16:16-24.

You will find that the odd numbered chapters make a statement and establishes it. The even numbered chapters show how the established statement affects our lives, and the blessing it brings.

The book of Hebrews can be divided into six main points. I offer:

Chapters 1 & 2- GOD personally speaking to us, seeking us, and providing salvation for us= REDEMPTION. With a judgment of sin attitude of God Elohim, the strong and faithful One, and yes Master Lord of all, Adoni.

Chapters 3 & 4- Consider Jesus and what He accomplished; life for a degenerate mankind; ending in our access to GODs throne and ‘rest’. THAT MEANS GLORIFICATION.

Chapters 5 & 6- Jesus, God became man, touched, compassionate, obedient, called. Jesus is the only human that performed His job without a flaw. There’s no fooling GOD. God blessed Abraham for enduring, and confirmed His oath (Gen. 15). Jesus, the compassionate called one, is our High Priest.

Chapters 7 & 8- Better: sacrifice, covenant, oath-eternal priesthood. The High Priest on the throne ministers the New Covenant.

Chapters 9 & 10- The Way is clear, redemption by His blood; being purged means salvation, for us. The obedient Man (the first covenant taken away) the New Covenant established. We are sanctified, hence a new living way.

Chapters 11 & 12- Chapter 11: Faith has a seen reality shown by all our lives; v. 39. They looked forward to His city, and a coming rest; however, they did not enter into a final rest. This rest comes only after GOD’s final move against sin. They walked by faith, being empowered and comforted, looking for the sacrifice. We walk looking back in faith at the sacrifice, being bathed, empowered, indwelled, and comforted. The result, of the rejection of the Messiah by the Israeli nation, is that they were conquered and cast out of their land. Man has been judged since Adam. The nation of Israel is and will be judged, until Jesus comes as King and establishes His earthly kingdom.

Chapter 13- Let: (1) vs. 1-8 our actions be Christ-like actions;(2) v.9 our reality be one established by grace, not past action; (3) v.13 is us going into the world to serve with the mind-set that we have no continuing city or stronghold here; (4) v. 17 we serve GOD properly; (5) v. 18 our life be a proper life; (6) v. 19-21 we are to be submissive to GOD.

The statement of chapters 1-12 is Jesus Christ the way, the truth, and the life", and eternal rest, or city, if you will, for our souls. Chapter 13 reveals the blessing in our daily lives: GOD is with us forever. We should guard, commit and spend our lives serving God and man. Hence we see, in the 13 chapters, these one word realities: 1. Son 2. Suffered 3. Partakers 4. Faith 5. Propitiation 6. Hope 7. Best 8. New 9. Perfection 10. Surrendered 11. Settled 12. Serve 13. Love.

Hebrews explains the Godhead, Jesus, faith, life, judgment, and eternity.

I am compelled to include the following chapters and verses in order to establish a mind- set ready to focus on Hebrews. I will include some additional scriptures for reinforcement.

Philippians 2:5-13 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

6 Who, being in the form of God thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

    10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

Colossians 1: 12-23 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:

13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us
