Leonardo Among Men: Da Vinci in the Context of Polymaths NOTE ON THE COVER

The image that illustrates the cover is an allusion made by a professional, photographer and friend Bruno Rós. The photo was produced in an editorial in the field to create an immersive link too the da Vinci's Renaissance setting. It is an allusion between what would be the boy Leonardo and João Pinatto, a professional Brazilian model, a friend of Renaissance beauty.

    Their

features are similar to those in da Vinci's portrait of Lucania. O

detail is that this makes the cover even more el to the proposal. On the other side, a portrait representing Leonardo da Vinci and that was discovered, in the year two thousand eight, by Nicola Barbatelli, a scholar of medieval history in Lucania, Acerenza (south of the Italy), according to the Ideale Leonardo da Vinci Museum, from Florence. It is an oil on canvas of 60 by 40

centimeters which are dated to the 16th century. O historian Nicola Barbatelli, the author of the discovery, said that, initially, I had no idea who would be portrayed: «It was a deteriorated work, difficult to read," he said. The work had to be restored for the portrait to be discovered. An analysis of carbon ١٤ dated the canvas at the turn of the 15th to the 16th century – a time when Leonardo (١٤٥٢–١٥١٩) was still alive.

Da Vinci’s admirers believe it may be a

self-portrait like the canvas bears the Latin inscription « pinxit me "

(painted by myself) written backward, as usual in the Renaissance. However, experts doubt and want more tests. Next, the work Self-portrait Luciano:
