I have no idea who wrote it, but I certainly agree with the sentiments. My family are without a doubt, my world. So, I dedicate this story to my wife, my children, and my children’s children. Also, all the dogs in our family, past and present, who inspired me to write this story.
First my daughter’s two dogs.
‘Penny’ (sadly departed) a beautiful little white Westie. Impeccably behaved, devoted to my daughter, a constant companion through university and special arrangements allowed her to attend the church service, when my daughter got married.
Now she has ‘Toby’ a handsome rescue dog of mixed breeds. Was a bit of a rascal at puppy stage, but has matured into a loyal companion and a self-appointed guardian and protector to her two young daughters. Our beautiful and funny grandchildren, Jessica and Stella.
Last, but not least, my own two dearly loved, but sadly departed, dogs. A Labrador, ‘Sam’ and a golden retriever, ‘Poppy’.
A dog’s friendship is a wonderful thing, but when it’s their time to go, they break your heart.
