About this ebook

This book was also a dream of hers; not to be famous or to sell a million copies, but for the purpose of having something for the generations after her and those closest to her to share and reminisce. The inspiration for this book is for those that miss her more than she will ever know. She was taken from us way too soon, but her words can live on through this book...

Deborah Reid

Deborah Reid was born on May 21, 1957, to her parents Irene Nelson and Murkland O'Kelley. She grew up on the Northside of Pittsburgh around family and friends. She was the first person in her family to attend college and got her associates degree in Applied Science from the Community College of Allegheny County in 1991. She married Glynn Reid on November 6, 1982. Together they had three sons; Jamar Maurice “Shittle Boy”, twins Joshua Martel “Smoogie” and Justin Marcus “Kissy Face”. She also had four grandchildren. Deborah had a handful of things she loved; from going out on one of Pittsburgh's riverboat cabarets to playing her daily and evening lotto numbers with scratchies to racking up some money on penny slots at the casino to hosting cookouts for family and friends to playing Tiger Woods on Xbox 360 to playing cards including bid, whist and spades. Lastly, she loved talking on the phone to anybody, especially her sister, Lynette Devers better known as “Agnes” only to her sister Deborah was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother and like family to just about anyone she knew. This book is her life in poems, in her words, through pain, joy, struggle, and perseverance.

    To The People

To the people who don’t know me well,

Can you judge me and have the right to tell

Others about me who look, and observe,

Misjudging people takes a lot of nerve,

To the people that can really see,

The value of life has its variety,

To each its own to search, and to find,

To take care of yours and not worry about mine.

    Whatever it may be!

    The Rainbow of Life

Love, is red, for its heart to give to me as a work of art,

Understanding, is yellow, for its brightness to understand the meaning of happiness,

Trust, is green, for its inspiration to trust you with my thoughts of deep meditation,

Faith, is orange, for its warmness to accept from me for my forgiveness,

Affection, is purple, for its deepest, to cure my emotions, for its highest,

Competition, in pink, for its togetherness to block out the loneliness,

Hope, is gold, for its gratitude to have, and to hold, with no attitude,

Patience, is brown, for its solid grounds to depend upon it never let it down,

Problems, is white, for its only natural to be to the best of my knowledge, it’s a mystery,

Black, is the beholder, for all sorrow, the rainbow of life, is for today, yesterday and tomorrow

Eternity, is blue, for its forever to rest in the land of never, never.

    The Cost of Living

    Prices outrageous, money can’t buy

The cost of living, is gone sky high

Workers, are working, to earn some dough

The cost of living, is just a blow,

Foods, and meats, at the grocery store

The cost of living, is higher than before,

You need a million dollars, just to shop

The cost of living, ought to stop,

The more money you earn, the more you spend

With the cost of living, you just can’t win,

People are begging, for the welfare line

With the cost of living, is blowing your mind,

Food in your mouth, or no clothes on your back

The cost of living, is just a heartbreaking fact,

People are stinking, for they have no clothes

The cost of living, supply none of those,

For you can’t even buy, yourself a friend

The cost of living, need to come to an end,

People are dying, just don’t want to see

That the cost of living, is reality,

The rest that are living, have swollen heads

Because, the cost of living, is killing us dead.

    I Got The Will

I know it’s a hard struggle from the people I got to
