Her first award was given in high school as a contestant in a poetry contest a teacher submitted for her, for which she won a partial scholarship. Later, she became a Contributing Writer, promoted to Contributing Editor, then became Managing Editor of INFO Magazine, a local magazine in Grand Rapids, MI. She went on to be published in Creative Loafing, Bill Vaughn's Tasty Clips and to win a monetary award for a poem while living in Atlanta, GA.view less
