Life, the Universe and Me - L.J. Wallace

    Chapter One–In the beginning

Let me first explain that this book is filled with opinion. In particular, my opinion. Now before you put the book down in disgust and carry on, let me explain.

Nearly every book, movie, TV show, blog, etc etc is the opinion of some one. Even the main Religious texts are the opinion of some one. In fact, all Theosophical and Philosophical books are based on the opinion of whoever created them. Opinions are what we rely upon to provide a basis for our own opinions or views about the world we live in.

What about books that contain proven concepts and facts? They are not just based on someone’s opinion; they are based on empirical evidence. Cold, hard facts. That is true, but also remember that even Text books written by the most famous scholars in the World have been changed and re-written as new evidence appears. That’s why we as a species are moving forward, that’s how we progress.

Of course, as a species we will always have two facets of ourselves that will not be swayed by the opinions of others. Those two particular traits are free will and core beliefs. They are the bedrock of our personality, they are traits that we would never compromise. You only need delve into the ubiquitous world of social media to see how polarised everyone in the world is according to their own core beliefs.

Having said all of that, I would like to dive in to discussing my own personal belief about my reality and how it all started.

As I sat in my Chemistry Class in Year 11 at the tender age of 16, idly chewing the end of my pencil and thinking about the upcoming lunch break. My interest was piqued when the teacher started talking about energy. In particular, how, according to Einstein’s First Law of Thermodynamics, energy had always existed and could neither be created nor destroyed. It just kept changing state from one form to another and in fact everything contains energy at a sub atomic level and everything is in a continuous state of movement (but more about that later). The only way to cease that movement is to bring the temperature down to absolute zero. Of course this is a temperature that is not naturally occurring and it takes a considerable amount of energy itself to produce this temperature. Even space is not at absolute zero.

That statement about energy must have somehow stayed in the back of my mind because years later I sat through a documentary about the history of the Universe and the central premise was that the Universe started with a Big Bang which was incredibly hot and dense and then continually expanded - after that point it gradually cooled and spread out to form suns and planets during the process which took Billions of years

Having sat through the documentary I started thinking about energy. If indeed it can neither be created nor destroyed, where was it before the Big Bang?

This question creates another question. Was there a time before the Big Bang? If you accept the premise regarding energy, then the answer would have to be Yes!

I have also studied many philosophical texts from various people for example, Plato, Aristotle, Alan Watts, Seth, Abraham et al, concerning the nature of the soul. According to popular belief, the soul is also eternal and is in fact a form of energy.

This got me thinking. If the soul is an eternal energy source, is that the only energy source? The same energy source which created the Universe and everything in it and possibly other Universes before this one? Does this energy source exist outside of space and time?

These are all big questions and according to your own core beliefs each of you will either agree or disagree. Personally I don’t care. As I stated at the beginning of this chapter, this book is based on my opinion. Whether you believe it or not is irrelevant to my reality.

I choose to believe that everything is connected. We are all part of a Universal Collective Consciousness that has always existed and will always exist. When you consider the unfathomable vastness of the Universe, the idea that the energy that created it still exists is really not that hard to comprehend.

As well as the Universal Laws that govern nature, gravity, momentum et cetera, there are in fact, Universal Laws which govern the nature of reality. The first Law, is the Law of Divine Oneness. This essentially means that everything is connected.

The entire Universe is connected and scientists have known this since before Albert Einstein pondered the nature of Quantum particles or …spooky action at a distance as he liked to describe it. He was referring to the fact that entangled particles act the same way no matter how close or far apart they are. Isn’t that the very definition of connectedness?

If you like to look at it from another perspective, every atom in our bodies was once part of a distant star which had lived and died, going through the process of casting out heavier and heavier molecules as it slowly decayed and eventually either imploded or exploded depending upon its original mass.

So don’t let anyone tell you that you are not special. We are all special and unique. So unique in fact that we are the only Human Beings in the entire Universe (well this Universe anyway - if you have read my book, Immortal Harvest, you would know that I share the belief of the existence of the Multiverse).

So how does an eternal stream of Universal Collective consciousness play a part in all of this. Well, as an energy source, it is essentially the creator
