ABOUT AUTHOR / CONTRIBUTOR

This book was written in response to a large volume of questions received by our Soccer Agent Course Instructor; who has tutored people around the world and taught them about the laws and rules that apply to the work of agents. The instructor obtained an LLB (Hons) degree and completed Bar training. The author also worked for a couple of law firms and as a Legal Researcher and Writer for a number of years. 

 

WHO IS THE BOOK DESIGNED FOR?

The book is designed for players, parents of young players, relatives / friends of a player, club coaches / officials, or anyone else who is helping a player develop his / her playing career to realise a dream of becoming a professional player.

 

THE BENEFITS OF BUYING THE BOOK

It has been estimated that less than 1% of players playing organised football sign a contract with an English premier league club (English FA (Richard Allen), 'Football Talent Spotting: Are Clubs Getting It Wrong With Kids?', (2015)).  

 

While this statistic only relates to the English Premier League, it is clear that competition to become a professional footballer is very high.

Therefore, leaving the decision about which academy to join to chance, or making a decision about an academy without at least carrying out research does not make sense to me. Would you agree?  

The best approach is to compare the academies available before deciding which academy to join.

The academies available vary considerably in terms of the standard of training, support & facilities provided to a player, and more importantly the opportunities available to the player to progress his / her career upon completing an academy programme.

Introduction

Football is by far the most popular sport in the world (referred to throughout this book as ‘football’, ‘soccer’, and the ‘game’).
