    Acknowledgments

I never imagined that I would write a book or that I would call myself an author… WOW!

I would never have gotten to this point without the incredible love and support from my family, friends, and colleagues, who all have encouraged and inspired me at different stages of my life and career.

    Thank you to…

My granddad and hero, Harry who always pushed me to follow my dreams and be the best me and who cheered me enthusiastically at every step.

My loving parents, Gull-Britt and Wilhelm who stuck by me and tirelessly supported me not only through my studies and my career, including my move to London although it took me away from them.

My brother Tomas whose unconditional love makes him the best brother and friend you could have. My sister-in-law Jenny and my nephew and niece, Linus and Olivia whose love and support is more than anyone can ask for.

My partner Nick, my best friend and soulmate, for all your incredible love. You are the embodiment of calm pragmatism when I need it most and you shine the light on my path. Endless thanks for your advice and tireless support to get me to be my best me.

To my great friends who have stuck by me in good times and bad, Jessica, Anette for being there from the start, Rakhee, Rachael and Sunil thank you for being my friend-family and whose love and belief in me has been incredible.

To Donna, who is also part of my friend-family and who has helped me grow as a person. Thank you for the grammar tips and helping me finish this book.

Lastly to my fantastic colleagues in the Inner Circle, who without you I would not have been able to be who I am today.

    Foreword

Health is the foundation of a full life and is at the heart of my practice.

From an early age, I had a fascination with human anatomy which was furthered when I became a competitive gymnast. Gymnastics inspired me to pursue a career in health and my initial ambition was to become a physiotherapist. I was impressed by how knowledge of the muscular skeletal system could help people achieve better health. I was convinced that I too needed to help people achieve optimum health and function. When I discovered Chiropractic, I was more convinced than ever about my mission in life.

I have a simple goal in my practice, I want to see my clients leave with more ease than when they arrived. With just one body and one life to live, our ongoing health is essential, and chiropractic plays a significant role in its maintenance. My mission is to help people of all ages and experiences to live as happily and healthily as possible. Everything we do in life is controlled by the nervous system, and when disruption arises, adverse effects can occur. My aim is to provide you with the components to achieve your best life without interference.

The physical, emotional and chemical stress we encounter in our daily lives leads to both positive and negative results. I have been able to help my clients achieve incredible results when we focus on their health through chiropractic adjustments, changing their nervous system, incorporating exercise, positive attitudes, conscious approaches to food and hydration and devoting time to their own overall health and well-being.

I want to share the knowledge from my extensive experience (Now over 25 years) that spans the entire wellness spectrum so that you can live a full, healthy life.

I hope you will enjoy reading this book.

Live life to the fullest the Sensus way.

    The Sickness in

    Modern Healthcare

I think the biggest problem with healthcare today is not its cost – which is a big problem – but for all that money, it’s not an expression of our humanity.

    ~Jonathan Bush

    "Government doesn’t solve problems

    —it subsidizes them."

    ~Ronald Reagan

The biggest problems in the modern healthcare system throughout the world are the same: high costs, poor results, frequent medical errors, and patient dissatisfaction. ¹ Simultaneously, we face a global epidemic of obesity and chronic disease. For example, cardiovascular disease, cancers, dementia and Alzheimer disease were the leading causes of deaths in the UK in 2018. ²

The structure and function of the modern healthcare system were set up at the beginning of the 20th century. It gave more importance to an acute care approach and much less priority to prevention and public health. The main emphasis was on understanding and treating infectious diseases and reliance on laboratory research.³

This strategy made sense 100 years ago because of the prevalence of acute infectious diseases in a young population. However, it doesn’t make any sense now.
