About this ebook

When things happen or situations crop up that raise an eyebrow, or cause a smile or simple appreciation, they are often the catalyst for one of Charlie's poems. He finds putting writing them frees his mind to get on with something else.

    Kindness - Charlie

    Cruel

No small fish suffocated to make my supper,

    no overfed cow,

    stewed with onions and herbs,

    or terrified cock,

    hung from his feet,

zapped then killed from losing all its blood,

having had its throat cut mechanically.

    Just vegetables, fruit and algae…

eaten to the limit set by the scales,

witnessed by that waist line measurement,

washed down with alcohol free wine.

    That is just the animals.

    Well insulated houses,

    and cars powered from renewables,

    will be a start…

    Or a hidden secret transaction?

The dog gets free food -

the giver a loud licking, leaping welcome home,

and a warm sleeping soul on their lap

    - while they watch the box.

    Kindness -

doesn’t just apply to people and animals.

It applies to our small orb Earth as well.

    They never wagged their tails,

    or welcomed you home.

    Never flew between countries,

or swam through the sea -

    heaven knows how far.

    Vegetables, simple vegetables,

with all the fuels needed to fill this frame.

    Leaving no hidden worries,

of the life of a delightful animal,

    cut short -

    just to fill a plate,

    And probably hurting our planet

    on the way there,

    with carbon emissions.

    Oztopia

There is an Australian animal called a Kandu -

and it’s neither antelope nor marsupial.

It normally operates on its hind legs.

    It was an Australian,

who was the first to cross the German lines

    in WW1.

    image2.jpeg

The great Jack Brabham was the first and only man ever

to win the formula one championship

In a car he designed himself.

Now we need armies of Kandus

    burnishing Australia

into a gleaming renewables capital of the world.
