Mount Mulligan mine tragedy remembered

MY PARTNER, Carolyn Rayner, and I attended the centenary of the Mount Mulligan mine disaster in September 2021. Carolyn’s grandfather was a victim of that blast that killed so many. I was touched by her grandfather’s story and Carolyn’s determination to attend and show that after all these years someone still cared. She had never met her grandfather, but her dad was a small boy at the school there and he experienced the blast and endured the subsequent traumas.

On our long drive home to the Sunshine Coast I became determined to write a commemorative poem for and about Carolyn, and wondered if your readers might like to read it.
