DEDICATION
For all who struggle with alcohol: There is a way out without the shame and guilt so prevalent in our society today. You do not have to label yourself anything because God has not labeled you anything other than wonderfully and beautifully made in His image. He created you for a purpose. Satan’s dominion is on this earth right now (Ephesians 2:2) and the deception about what alcohol provides in life is real and overwhelmingly widespread. Consider how cunning he was when presenting Eve with reasons to eat from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. It sounded good, and yet it led her astray from living her best life. The fact is that our body processes alcohol as if it were a toxin and responds accordingly. It is in fact the same type of deception Adam and Eve experienced in the Garden. Alcohol steals from us the person we were created to be. Choosing to see truth in life and in His Word is what this journey is all about. Choosing freedom from the psychological slavery of this habit is liberating and provides the joy that was always intended in G od’s plan.
I also want to dedicate this book to my biological children, Jesse, Nicole, and Alex as well as to my stepdaughter Staci. Your unconditional love for me does not go unnoticed and your support during difficult times has been a frequent blessing. In undertaking this project, please know that it is my heart’s desire for you to see the truth in all of God’s Word, all the time.

Acknowledgments
There are many who have played a role in the development of this book, and I am deeply thankful for each one. First to James Swanwick for creating a coaching program that gave me the opportunity to reclaim my life. Thank you for inspiring me and teaching me how to push
past what was comfortable to create something new. Then to my master coach (and next as my partner is crime at Rubicon 100) Kevin Schouweiler, whose unending capacity for love and patience for all his clients is unprecedented. You have taught me so much and I will be eternally grateful for your friendship and mentorship a s a coach.
To all of those in my previous and current coaching programs who inspired and encouraged me to continue writing and identifying scriptures that corresponded to the teachings in the secular program, a big thank you. Without your feedback and encouragement, I may not have had the courage to continue this journey.
To pastor Michael Odom, who has walked this journey with me longer than any other. Thank you for your compassion, patience, and continued Godly guidance as I navigated so much heartache during a difficult season of life. You always answered my calls and took the time to walk through those dark periods with me, being careful to scripturally inspire my walk and perspective in order to persevere in His light. Please know how great a difference you made in my life. Thank you also for trusting in me enough to review these devotional entries to verify the theological significance of each day’s instruction. Please never doubt your calling as one who uses God’s Word to inspire.
Finally, I would like to acknowledge and thank the following authors whose expertise and research helped me solidify my faith in God’s never-ending loving instruction through the science of the brain.
• Bruce Lipton, author of The Biology of Belief, for his work in the field of epigenetics in describing how thoughts can change DNA expression.
• Dr. Joe Dispensa, author of You are the Placebo and Breaking the Habit of being Yourself, solidifying the power within us when our thoughts are rightly aligned with God’s will.
• Dr. Caroline Leaf, author of Switch on Your Brain, validating the biblical application of the science of thoughts.
• Shirzad Chamine, author of Positive Intelligence, whose groundbreaking work shows real scientific breakthroughs with our ability to redirect negative thinking to positive thinking when faced with life’s challenges and confirms God’s instruction to take captive our thoughts in 2nd Corinthians 10:5.
And last, but certainly not least, my Father in Heaven who created a roadmap for us to follow since the beginning of time. I questioned so many times what plan you could possibly have had for me during times of suffering, and you have continued to unveil it to me every day as I walk with you. Thank you for sending your son Jesus to die on a cross for our sins. In understanding the gravity of what He did, I was allowed to put the past in the past and look forward to my hope in you eternally.
Foreword I
As a pastor who both counsels and creates invitational experiences on a regular basis, this devotional is an exceptional way for readers to search their souls with loving invitations straight from the Wo rd of God.
I was Rose Ann’s pastor for many years and worked closely with her as she was the church’s Treasurer and a Bible Study Leader. Rose Ann went through a very dark period in her life because of a separation and divorce, and it was clearly a season of crisis for her. It was a time when she needed more than some of the traditional church avenues offered for growth found in Sunday services, bible studies, and so on.
Rose Ann came into what are known as the spiritual disciplines in the church through a
