My name is Arianna Javid, and life dealt me a pretty wild hand; one causing me to move six times before finishing high school. I assume that if this book catches your eye, it’s because your family is either preparing to relocate, or is currently in the process. Given my experience, I know how difficult it can be for kids to manage the hardships affiliated with starting over. Adults are usually preoccupied with finding work, housing, and other matters of importance while children often face their new reality alone. This book offers advice, first-hand accounts, and tricks to help children and adolescents through the moving journey. When I was transitioning from place to place, I didn’t have someone to guide me through these challenges that fully understood what situations I was being presented with. I want to be that person for struggling kids around the world who are being put into my wheelhouse, and are left to navigate through this type of drastic change. I am confident that with my help, the trials and tribulations of moving will become easier to bear.
This book is dedicated to my amazing support system of a family. Thank you for always pushing me to succeed and being there for me through the years. Moving has made me lean on your support more than ever and I am truly grateful for the influence you all have had on my life.
And a special thanks to my past educators for welcoming me with open arms:

Home has never had the same face.
Four walls are all you see once you’ve lived
City and town, country and state.
The windows and roofs serve the same purpose.
The doors and floors await your embrace.
And while boxes fill rooms
And still consume what lies
On the surface,
A house is much more than nails
In the grooves of a space.
It is a refuge, a keeper of
Memories known only to you.
Your secrets are sealed in the walls
You can’t see through.
And though your home is your center,
A compass to the heart.
There is more home to roam and enter
In this unfamiliar, fresh start.

The News
Here we are. This is when your parents sit you down and tell you you’re moving. The first time I had this conversation it seemed that there was some kind of dense tension filling the room. I remember being confused and patiently waiting to see what would come next. After a long pause, the
