About this ebook

Uninvited is a short paranormal romance story between a mermaid and a soft hearted man with Impundulu blood from his father and strong blood from his human mother.

Amy is a proud mermaid who loves the sound of her voice and equally loves seeing people be mesmerised with her voice; not to mention the money which comes by doing private millionaire gigs. She doesn't mind the smaller audience, as long as more money is involved. Armed with her beautiful voice and her banging body, she has the world in the palm of her hands.

Gary is a handsome, rich bachelor who is part Impundulu and part human. With his gorgeousness as his 'super power', he has a bevy of women clambering for his attention, except Amy.

When Gary falls overboard and Amy rescues him, he could've sworn she turned into a mermaid. While Amy is busy dissuading Gary of the fact, things unexpectedly heat up between the two - an 'unfortunate' fact for Amy.

    Uninvited - E.L. Jones

    Chapter One

    *

    Amy

Yeah, baby, hit it, I instruct the drummer.

He goes into a roll, and then delves into a little freestyle. The pianist lets his fingers rest for the moment. He’d had his turn some moments ago. Now it’s the drummer’s. Sometimes, when they’re not interfering with my means of livelihood by overdoing it I have some compassion for them. Just a sliver of it.

In this business, it’s quite easy to get sidelined if you aren’t the pretty girl in a short gold-brown sequin dress with a plunging neckline. That pretty girl is me. I added a lariat necklace for good measure and I’ve got on stilettoes, thereby enunciating my firm thighs and legs. Standing in front of the mic, I spread my legs apart a bit as I wait for the drummer to cue me in.

I’ve got my audience spread out before me. Although they’re smaller than in my previous job, I don’t give a penny’s worth of a fuck. They’re richer, and that’s what I’m here for. The money. Otherwise what’s a girl going to do? Nobody survives on talent alone these days. You’ve got to put a little something extra on the table. These ogling and lecherous bastards right in front of me like to be tickled by the fancy that they can have a strong, beautiful, bootylicious girl. All they’ve got to do is just click a finger, and we’ll come running to their withered laps.

I understand the idea that most of them are trying to disillusion themselves from the lives they share with relatively unattractive wives, but come on, if they’re going to be so brazen about their needs in public, they could also carry that brazenness through to bed. However, most of them on this yacht are here to indulge their dreams.

My voice is doing that for them. But if I’ve got a banging body, why shouldn’t I add that card to the deck and up my revenue? Trust me, no one understands the wiles of men better than mermaids. For a while, it was believed that that was what we were solely created for – singing, luring, and falling in love with sailors. Well, I did have a fair share of that, but it doesn’t mean that that’s the entire job description. There are other things too.

Anyways, this is my moment here. The drummer executes one last complex roll. Then he hammers on the crash and snare for one, two, three, and go—

I put the mic back to my mouth and let my voice flow out. I don’t know what people at the receiving end of my voice must hear. To be honest, I don’t think it’s as nice as people say it is.

Pfft. Who am I kidding? My voice is fucking awesome. It’s always been awesome. It’s one of those traits specific to me. Singing is one of my favorite things in my very long life, that and watching men fall to my charms. I gauge the words that flow out of my mouth. I control them
