    Introduction

We each and all practice timeless wisdom every day of our life, without even knowing it. Our patterns of living have developed over time, over a very long time. We’re usually much more active during daylight than we are during the night. It seems to make more sense recharging our inner batteries by sleeping during the hours of darkness than during daylight. Unless, of course, we’re working a night shift. Timeless wisdom is a glorified name for common sense.

Book Three has been complete for quite some time. Months? Years? Centuries? How can I know, for sure? I may have been led to believe that I was part of it all, beyond playing the typist. Was I really the simple seeker? Or was my personality designed to present as such? Life is still a mystery to me, and yet I seem to have always needed to try to make sense of it all.

It’s never too late to live a life that makes sense. Life is an art that we are each and all developing. Some have learned what it takes to make them feel satisfied with their life, while others are still restless to discover what it is that will give them a sense of satisfaction with how they live their life.

The timeless wisdom traditions of all cultures were designed to help us find a way – to help us discover what it takes to make life worth living. Some traditions stressed worship of a powerful God who would protect us from our enemies and reward us with riches if we obeyed the rules of that religion. It didn’t always work in the best interest of all members of whatever culture, for some individual humans took control of the religion, and imposed rules that were not designed to bring happiness to all, but to maintain positions of power over the mases, by a few.

Prophets came and went in all cultures. How different were they from philosophers? Prophets looked to an all-powerful being for the answers to life’s problems. Philosophers looked a little closer to home – to the individual and his/her state of mind – our individual awareness of personal problems and how they developed, and how intent the individual was in trying to improve the quality of one’s life – how willing to take personal responsibility for making life worth living, and more, to make life a joy.

The danger of the personal approach to quality of life is that there is a risk of underestimating the powerful influence of the community on
