#1 The New Atheism is a recent movement of god-deniers writing bestsellers. It’s been said that the four horsemen of the Neo-atheistic apocalypse are Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, Christopher Hitchens, and Daniel Dennett.
#2 The Christian faith has an image problem, and it is largely due to the New Atheists. They have capitalized on the West’s increasingly post-Christian status to tar all things religious with the same brush. But most people do not consider themselves atheists just because they have no church.
#3 The New Atheists are right to point out that all religious believers are guilty of ignorance, immorality, and hypocrisy. They are also wrong to assume that their arguments against God’s existence are intellectually rigorous.
#4 The New Atheists are not willing to accept the positive influence of Christian faith in the world, and they refuse to acknowledge the atrocities committed in the name of atheism by Stalin, Pol Pot, and Mao Zedong.

Insights from Chapter 1
#1
I was twenty years old and had just moved to Chicago with my baby daughter. I was sharing a small apartment with my husband, and we were feeling even more cramped than usual. I packed up my one-year-old daughter and a cantaloupe that was starting to turn too soft, and headed out the door.
#2
The Read-Aloud Handbook has sold well over a million copies, and it is chock-full of statistics and data that prove reading aloud connects and bonds families and helps kids grow to be successful in just about every area of life, especially in school.
#3
The idea that reading aloud should take priority over other things, that even teachers in schools should shuttle other subjects off the schedule to make more room for it, was new to me as a parent. I realized that my relationship with Audrey was the most important thing in my life.
#4
I had high hopes for Audrey right away. I wanted her to grow up to love God with all of her heart, mind, and soul. I wanted her to do well in school, and I wanted a warm relationship with her.
#5
I wanted to raise Audrey to be a kind, capable, and loving person, and I knew that there was a lot I could get wrong. I wanted to get it right.
#6
The days you have to raise your kids while they are still under your roof are limited. When you picked up this book, you may have thought you were getting a manifesto on reading aloud. By the end of it, you might decide that’s exactly what it is.
#7
I had an ember that had lain dormant, buried deep within me. I began to read aloud to my three children more than ever. So startling were the results that five years later, I could hardly keep myself from bubbling over with the thrill of it.
#8
The Read-Aloud Revival podcast was released in late 2016, and has since grown to millions of downloads. It has helped thousands of families read aloud together, and has become a worldwide revival in families prioritizing books and read-aloud sessions.
#9
We are not going all-in for our kids because we are promised excellent results. We are doing it because we want them to live out the fullness of God’s vision
