Zany Zia’s Hats to WhereZany Zia

Zany Zia’s shop is filled with hats of all sorts ... but these aren’t hats to wear—they are hats to where.

Put on a diver’s helmet, and you might just find yourself at the bottom of the ocean. Try on a chef’s hat, and you could end up in a fancy French restaurant in France.

Or put on the knight’s helmet, and discover what it’s like to live in the world of knights, castles, and fire-breathing dragons.

Welcome to Zany Zia’s Hats to Where!

Come in and live your adventure.

Whatever befalls you from this day on, you’ll know the courage you need lies within. I’m proud of you.

Evan knew he wasn’t supposed to be so excited about going to the circus. He was only one month away from being a teenager, after all. So he had worked out a plan—if he saw anyone he knew, he’d just say he was there to help his parents with his kid sister. But really, he was pumped .

The big rigs had rumbled into Mayfield earlier that week. The colorful trailers carried carnival rides that would rock, spin, and shake their passengers until they couldn’t tell which way was up. Evan couldn’t wait to ride them all—twice. Then there came the trailers carrying bright cages with animals of every shape and size inside. Evan whooped with excitement when he saw the posters promising lion tamers, roller coasters, and all the junk food he could eat.

It was finally opening day. His parents were taking him and his five-year-old sister, Sarah, to the circus. During the past month he’d saved twenty-five dollars—his entire allowance—to buy snacks and play the games. The circus was in town, and Evan knew today would be one of the best days of his summer vacation.

The sun quickly warmed the early summer morning. After breakfast, Evan’s family piled into the car and headed to the fairgrounds. On the way, Evan recounted his money and imagined what he might spend it on. Cotton candy and corn dogs were a sure bet.

All week he had begged his mom—who never allowed him to go anywhere alone—to let him hang out with his friend Danny instead of tagging along with them and his baby sister. He
