Daisy: Not Your Average Super-sleuth! The Throwback Prequel: Daisy Morrow

About this ebook
Essentially-English, almost-certainly quirky, and definitely a little crazy, come and meet our feisty R.E.D. (Retired Extremely Daisy) heroine, and find out why she's such a hit with readers!
"One of the best cozy mysteries I've ever read!"
"A real breath of fresh literary air!"
According to Daisy, nothing is ever quite what it seems. In her case, that's the truest thing ever spoken! Moving to the village a few miles from Kings Lynn in Norfolk a year or so ago, after a very unfortunate incident in London, she believed village life was the best option. She's adapted to country life quite well, although she rather unkindly refers to the beautiful village of Great Wiltingham as the 'place people go to wilt'.
Daisy is seventy-one now, and not at all like a pensioner is supposed to be. It could be something to do with the career she had before retiring. For some strange reason, trouble seems to follow her around. That's not about to end...
The Throwback Prequel: When Daisy met Aidan
'When Daisy met Aidan', is an addition to the main Daisy Morrow series, a shorter novella written for fans of the books. If you already know Daisy, you'll realise the day she met Aidan was... well, a little unexpected, to say the least!
It's 1981. What started out as just another day for Aidan the junior accountant, turns into the most spectacular day of his life... up to then at least. As he sets off for work on his trusty bicycle, he has no idea of the danger lurking in wait. In his wildest dreams, he could never have imagined where he would end up by the time darkness fell.
For Daisy, already working for the SIS, risking her life was an accepted part of her CV. Even then, she could not have foreseen what the day would bring. Or predict a seriously unplanned relationship. come to that!
Check out Daisy, and everything else we do, on the brand new rtgreen website.
And enjoy!

The RTG mission in life is simple... to not be like everyone else! ‘Going Green’ has taken on a new meaning, in the book world at least. Whilst we applaud the original meaning (ebooks are a perfect way to promote that) we also try to present a different angle to it. The tendency these days is that if you don’t look and read like everyone else, you don’t sell books. Maybe there’s some truth in that, but we simply don’t do it. The RTG books have been described as a ‘breath of fresh literary air’, and, by those discovering us for the first time, ‘unexpectedly good’. We know many readers prefer the same-old same old, and that’s fine. It’s just not what you get from the RTG stable. Those who know about such things said it would take five years to become a proficient author... I scoffed at that. They were wise. It took six. It’s one reason why even today we remodel existing books, and will always do so. Right from the early years the stories were always good, but were put into words less well than they could have been! These days we have several series and a few standalones, the hit Daisy series most popular amongst them. In everything we do, the same provisos apply – Never the same book twice. If we can’t think up a good story, it doesn’t get written. The RTG brand is about exciting and twisty plots, a fast pace which doesn’t waste words, and endearing (sometimes slightly crazy) characters. We can never please everyone, but it works for us, and, it seems, for those who appreciate our work. Enjoy! Richard, Ann and the RTG crew

Introduction
THE DAISY MORROW SERIES documents the slightly-crazy adventures of our R.E.D. heroine... she’s fun, feisty, kind of wicked, and rather like the other RTG books, she will take you to places you never really expected to go!
Perhaps in Daisy’s case, that’s even truer. The throwback prequel is a novella written especially for Daisy fans, and takes you back to 1981, when life was very different for both Daisy and Aidan. We visit the fateful day when destiny played its hand, and brought the two of them together in the most dramatic of ways.
It maybe won’t surprise you their first meeting didn’t happen as the result of an idle conversation in a bar, or a chance encounter on a train.
Oh no... this is Daisy after all!
Their coming together was a million-to-one chance, which neither saw coming. Then again, when mortal danger lurks, Daisy never seems to be far away!
Enjoy!

Chapter 1
Of all the Days in all the World...
AIDAN HENDERSON SLIPPED the bicycle clips around his ankles, wheeled his bike along the short drive, and with a couple of skips, mounted the saddle and was on his way.
He glanced back, waved a hand to the woman standing in the doorway of the semi-detached house in Willesden, and then snaked a slightly wobbly path in the direction of the main road.
Every morning as he left for work she was there, watching him, and probably wondering why a thirty-six year old man couldn’t ride a bike properly. She never saw him at his best... he was always out of sight before he got up to speed, and gained full control.
Maybe one day he would make sure his mother knew he was actually quite competent on two wheels.
Then again, maybe she was also standing there wondering in a slightly pitying way why a thirty-six year old man was still living at home. It wasn’t really his fault... the job paid a pittance, and there had never really been anyone serious in his life, just one or two dalliances that never went anywhere.
So on the maybe theme, maybe he blamed that on himself, because of his own disinterest. Having a girl was never that important to him, not when there was a career to pursue. Ok, so not many people viewed accountancy as an enthralling way to earn a living these days. Flower-power was partly responsible for that, its legacy making sure everyone wanted to be a poet or a singer-songwriter, or make clay pots and watch the stars at night.
But Aidan Henderson had devoted his later academic years to numbers, and he wasn’t going to let all that go to waste. Even though it almost had. When he left university at twenty-two, a new industrial revolution was just taking shape, and accountancy firms were reluctant to take on as many employees as they used to.
The first few years of his working life had been spent at the local chippie, heading home at the end of his shift reeking of overused cooking oil.
He rode the mile to his current workplace, pedalled into the small car park, and chained the bike to the steel posts installed there for junior employees like him, who couldn’t afford a car. He was saving up for four-wheeled transport, and had his eye on a Ford Cortina Ghia, like they drove in Juliet Bravo. A cream-coloured one with a vinyl roof was his dream.
It might have to wait a while... it would still be a year or two before he’d accumulated enough for the hire-purchase deposit.
He shook his head at the bike, and glanced up to the three-storey building as he headed for the main entrance. His workplace stood all on its own, and by anyone’s standards wasn’t exactly notable for its cutting-edge design. Boring would be a good word to describe it. The entire ground floor was taken up with Barfly’s bank, the first floor leased to his employers, Simmonds and Braithwaite Accountants.
The second floor was occupied by someone a little more mysterious. A Columbian businessman, there seemed to be hardly anyone on the premises most of the time. Aidan had spotted him once or twice as he’d headed up the stairs, but decided to keep his distance. He didn’t look like someone you’d want to meet in a dark alley.
He’d often wondered why he even bothered with an office in London. He was rarely there. But there had to be some kind of reason,
