GREAT GIVE AWAY

Bettie English, Private Eye, loved her mother’s birthday. It was always an amazing day filled with laughter, love and plenty of tasty food. But as she stood on the pavement of a long road with little houses lining each side of it, she was hardly impressed.

She had told her boyfriend, who was currently bent over the engine of her red car, to take a right then a left. That wasn’t hard. It was easy, she had done it hundreds of times and her sister had done it drunk even more times.

But no. Her boyfriend Detective Graham had to take left then right, leading them to this God forsaken little road (Street?) with pretty little houses far away from her mother’s house and then the car broken down.

Bettie was not impressed!

She didn’t even know if Graham knew anything about cars. He was a detective, he was amazing at his job, but as she had learnt way too many times recently if she told him to put his mind to anything else, he was sexy and hot as hell, but next to useless.

Bettie had to admit watching Graham in his tight jeans, white shirt and blue shoes bend over her car was probably the only upside of the situation. Yet Bettie was starting to realise that they were going to be stuck here for a while and she hoped, prayed, whatever-ed that her mother’s birthday cake wasn’t going to spoil.
