Paul Springsteen

Paul Springsteen is someone that grew up in a medium sized town in Texas located in the united states. He went into the military upon graduating high school.  Though it didn't last long he did get an honorable discharge because of medical reasons. After this he went to the local college of his home town.  There he got a master's degree in physics. Due to illness he had a hard time in the job market before he discovered the joys of writing and wishes to spend his time writing stories for the forseeable future.  This came about from a strange origin.  From D&D of all places.  He kept feeling like he was getting shafted from playing stories.  So he pushed himself to write his own stories and enjoyed it. His stance on writing though is that he doesn't write to whatever is the it thing in the market.  Instead he has a particular way the story is supposed to go in his head and follows that.  So the reader should be aware that even killing the protagonist and having the bad guy win is a possible way things could happen in the story in the future.

    Chapter 1

So far, it was 9 days.  9 days of working hard trying to make a new settlement right before the endless caverns.  They would term the new building the endless manor.  Some of them were injured greatly but that was only Byung Hoon who was grievously wounded in the trek through the endless caverns.  Her mind was worse than her body which was broken all the same.  Those with ascension paths healed much faster and were able to get back to work in helping get lumber from the nearby trees and forest.

They didn't really have time to make something that would be up to code in the old world.  But they didn't have any power to worry about.  Instead, it would be the bare minimum of walls.  Because who knew anything about how to generate electricity out here?  It was a kind of way of roughing it that would cause for them to probably have to fix it later when those technologically inclined in Bangseong could bring out civilization for the masses.

They did toil, though.  Bai Shee healed somewhat miraculously from her wounds.  In about 1 or 2 days, she was completely healed from her injuries.  Bo Geun took a little bit longer to heal.  But he was healed by the end of the 9 days of waiting.  Bo Geun's gut wound did heal, though, and in a way that would have seemed miraculous to most others.

The yergal would occasionally visit from lower in the endless caverns.  Though they soon stopped bringing food because they didn't have enough that would feed the 150 or so of the people of the 1st expedition that were left.  They also knew nothing of building things made of wood, so they just visited to talk with the others of the expedition before they headed back down.

Usually, it was at night when they visited.  Probably because of the glare of the sun in their eyes.  Though to hear Yim Yam talk about it, they probably just had the same amount of discomfort with sunlight as humans did.

They were not really attacked while they were setting up their settlement.  They sent people out to get lumber and hunt.  Yitten was great at hunting, and Bai Shee would be strong enough to move the lumber.  One of the things that was surprising was the sheer amount of strength that Yim Yam possessed.  With Yim Yam's help, they transported much more lumber across the wagons than they could otherwise.

Yim Yam was actually stronger than Bai Shee even when she raged.  Apparently, it was the high reach yergal were naturally strong.  They were almost supernaturally strong for their size, being almost 10 times stronger on average than the average human.  And he was perhaps about 10 times stronger than Bai Shee even when she raged.

Though it would be important to keep someone with an ascension path at the base in case that it was attacked.  Tay Gae would be that person.  His skills weren't as useful in hunting or getting timber, so he would just stay in the camp along with Bo Geun.

In 9 days time, they managed to erect some manner of buildings and housing for the people that would be staying here.  Then just like the other places, they would be left to manage for themselves.  Something like this would have to do.  Though for, those with debt from the city, they didn't need to worry about it out here.  And as Mija said, in 10 years' time, they would have all of their debt removed and paid for by the Geon Family.

Little did Tay Gae, Yitten, Yim Yam, Bai Shee, and Bo Geun know, though, that the control by the Bin Family and Geon Family would run deep indeed.  Though this wouldn't be a problem that they would have to deal with or encounter.  It would be something that would be of note in future generations and time.

MiJa elected one of the people in the 1st expedition to be in charge of this new settlement named the Endless Manor.  One of the people sent by the Geon Family for just this type of occasion.  They thought ahead at the establishing of settlements, but they couldn't have foreseen the meeting and dealing with other races.  Still, it was adopted well enough.

    Chapter 2

Tay Gae walked out from his wagon, which was huddled against one of the buildings that they had just propped up.  There was a bucket with water and a cloth in it.  Tay Gae took out the cloth and washed his face.  It was a bright new morning.  The two suns of this world shined down their fierce sunlight, which was probably more intense than what it was like on earth.

Then he looked up to one of the nearby trees though this area had a sparse amount of trees.  There was something of a curious sight which had drawn a crowd around to look at the spectacle.  It was a bird, but it seemed like someone had drawn it.  It indeed looked like a sketch of a bird and looked to be made out of paper.  It was probably around the size of a large hawk though it was hard to tell from this distance.  There were also people that hurried past because surely nothing good could come from such a bird.  Tay Gae walked up to it.  For some reason, even though it was a strange creature, it didn't give off any vibes that it was dangerous in any way.

When the bird spotted Tay Gae it started to speak.  To those of the unnamed troop, hurry back to Bangseong.  Hurry back to Bangseong.

Why, what kind of creature are you?  Tay Gae asked the bird.

I am a familiar made by Matthew kim.  I am one of many.  Head back to Bangseong.  There is a threat of creatures that are coming to attack the city.  The paper bird said to Tay Gae.  Tell those in charge.

What kind of creatures are attacking Bangseong?  Tay Gae asked the bird.

I do not know.  I only know that Matthew Kim has told me to relay this message to you.  I am also to help guide you back to the town.  The bird said to Tay Gae.

How is Matthew Kim doing.  Tay Gae said.

He is worried.  Worried about the creatures that are attacking.  Go!  Get the others and return to Bangseong to deal with the threat.  The paper bird said, then curled up like it was resting.

Just then though Mija walked up to see the bird with a journal in his hand.  Perhaps he had heard about the creature from others that walked by.  Simply amazing.  What manner of creature is this.

When the bird saw Mija it got up again.  Attention.  Return to Bangseong.  Matthew Kim has seen that creatures will attack the town and start killing townspeople.  You need to head back.

It will take a few dozen days to get back.  It is certainly a long trek.  Are you sure that we will arrive in time?  Mija asked the bird.

The paper bird just looked at Mija.  I am just here to relay a message.  I don't know everything.  There are creatures that will attack the town.  You need to head back.  I will help guide you.

What manner of creature are you?  Mija asked the bird.

I am a familiar.  I was created by Matthew Kim.  I am just here to deliver a message.  You need to head back to Bangseong.  The paper bird said to Mija.

Mija turned toward Tay Gae.  What do you make of this.

It is certainly possible that Matthew Kim made this creature.  He does have the ability to do magic.  Tay Gae said.

He can create life?!  What else can he do?  Mija said.

I don't really know all of the specifics.  I only know of a couple of things.  Like short distance teleportation and healing abilities.  Tay Gae said.

Like how Bo Geun has now been using his new rune to heal people?  MiJa said.

Kind of like that I think.  I don't know that much about it, however.  I am just a guy that stabs things with a sword.  However, it is clear that it is probably from some kind of ascension path.  That is what everything associated with power usually is.  Tay Gae said.

Makes me envious, and I wish that I had one of these ascension paths,  Mija said to Tay Gae.

I don't know if I can help you there.  We need to head back to Bangseong.  Tay
