Reviews for Devotion to the Holy Spirit
2 ratings1 review
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The Holy Spirit gets neglected in all of Christianity, including Catholic pulpits. Typically we hear of the role of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost and at confirmations, but during the rest of the year, not much is said. Furthermore, most prayer books contain few devotions to the Holy Spirit. This little book fills that void and does it well. The first 50 pages summarize the theology of the Holy Spirit; the next 20 include several prayers, including prayers of thanksgiving, supplication, praise, contrition and consecration. The one thing it is lacking is a novena.

Chapter 1
Who Is the Holy Spirit?
THE Holy Spirit is the Third Person of the Blessed Trinity, the Person of Divine Love. He is called a spirit because He proceeds from the Father and the Son. The Father and the Son love one another with an infinite love and this love is a Person, the Person of the Holy Spirit, who is the bond of union, the source of happiness of the Father and the Son. From eternity to eternity, the Father loves the Son, and the Son loves the Father. They rejoice in this Divine Love, in the Person of the Holy Spirit.
As the sun gives light and warmth to all the inhabitants of the earth, so the Holy Spirit gives grace and light to all men, but especially to the Holy Catholic Church and to the hearts of the just [those in the state of Sanctifying Grace]. To the Holy Spirit are especially attributed the works of the Blessed Trinity in which love excels,
