As I sat up in bed late at night rereading Testimony of Light , (I’d read it countless times) I was overwhelmed with gratitude to author, Helen Greaves and co-author in spirit, Frances Banks for what they’d given my questioning mind… confirmation that life is eternal and unequivocal proof that letting go of the body brings one to a greater dimension of reality. I was truly fascinated.

A week earlier, I had been resting between sleep and wakefulness, when an inner thought surfaced and succinctly stated that I was going to write a book about life after death and collaborate with souls already in spirit. It was so matter-of-fact, it was as if I was engaged in conversation somewhere else. I questioned myself as I woke, if I’d really heard it. I remember I felt anxious but very excited. I knew if there was anything that would light me up, it would be something of this nature. As a seeker I’d garnered many metaphysical interests throughout my life, but nothing so captivating as connecting with those in spirit and learning the intricacies of the Other Side.

So, as I began again to read this very tattered but beloved book, I felt a wave of emotion envelope me. My eyes began to fill. At that moment I heard, Our presence is with you, my dear. You only have to reach out daily and we will assist you to write and understand from our perspective what is dutifully known and deeply understood as ‘life after death’.

I tried to slow the inner thoughts as I jumped off the bed to find pen and paper to record them. Spirit, as I named the voice, continued as I opened my small notebook and hurriedly wrote what I received, We are with you, Marian. We have been with you. Do not doubt our presence. There was no other way for me to interpret it. I was exhilarated as I began to clearly understand that a book would indeed be entrusted in my care.

The voice spoke again, I am forever grateful that you found us, Marian. This is Frances [Banks]. We have wanted to continue this experience since our first book. I knew she was referring to Helen Greaves, author of Testimony of Light, who had communed with Frances after she had passed in 1965, in the very book I was now holding. She continued, And now that Helen is with us [in spirit], we can complete this work through your perspective.

She continued, There is a gentleman here as well and refers to himself as Gordon Higginson. Immediately I recognized the name—he was a well-known British spiritualist medium. I had called upon his expertise in spirit when I’d done my own readings as an intuitive medium. He had a distinctive charm and humor when he delivered his wisdom. Recently I had been pondering the astuteness of his knowledge and abilities, thinking how I would have loved to chat with him in person.

To my surprise I heard him respond. "And so it is, Marian. I too would have delighted in a conversation with you. It is apparent that you are joining in and loving the connection with the afterworlds as I refer to them. They bring me the greatest of joys and we in this world of Spirit wish to comfort and to offer consultation and advice to each of you who decide to gather with us. We need and enjoy that constant contact as well. Apparently, it’s well and good for both sides. To each his own, I do prefer this side to yours though. I have often gone back to visit [the physical] and it is truly this side where the growth is often witnessed from. With all that said, it is important, so important to enjoy every aspect wherever you are, be it the physical or the worlds of Spirit. There is so much offered in both.

"God bless your journey, Marian. It is everything you could ever want it to be, if you will only accept it. Your timidity has stopped you immensely and you must not consider that guidance. More often it is arrogance to try to escape from what you are guided to do. Simply get on with it and it will of course flourish. Many thanks for the investments you have made in your own learning. It is quite honorable indeed."

It was then that Helen continued with her introduction to me, He says you have contacted or maybe contracted him to take part in the journey and for you to be at peace.

Just like that, the communication stopped. It ended with this thought: With love, devotion and blessings to your cause. I literally felt as though it was signed, Helen Greaves, Frances Banks and Gordon Higginson and I closed my notebook, put it beside my bed and tried to sleep.

The following night as I read through my books, more thoughts came to me from spirit and my new ‘acquaintances.’ I was told that the soul journeys onwards in the afterlife and is never left without assistance. The happiness and the glorious essence of who you are continues into the abundance of forever. I stopped and contemplated this idea; that there are no endings, only more and more growth. The confirmation was incredible, and I wanted to experience more.

The following day, I found myself ruminating over the conversation that I had experienced but didn’t say a word to anyone. By bedtime I was joined by another very intriguing soul.

It cannot be better in my eyes, Marian. She said, This is Florence.

The only Florence I was aware of was Florence Scovel Shinn, a teacher, metaphysical writer and author. Thinking back, I remembered months earlier feeling guided to read a compilation of her very writings.

She continued with me now, I too have waited to find someone like yourself. Someone who wants to grow and thrive with this work of the soul. Could it be that this is a mistake, a figment developed within you? This is not! It is literally a gift that has begun to open for each and every soul who wants it. We see you and know you as one who does not want to stop growing in this way. It is indeed time to take the reins that you are being handed."

When she was done, I was informed that Florence Shinn would continue among this band of souls I was becoming acquainted with.

There was amazing excitement that came with what I was hearing while at the same time my own thoughts were anxious. From the start of my work as an intuitive channel and medium in 2004, it had always been that way. I questioned and doubted myself. However, there was always confirmation with what I received from Spirit and always something within that compelled me to keep going. It was as if I couldn’t stop. I’d never felt that way about anything else in my life.

In addition to Frances and Florence, Helen Greaves had more to add. She explained that she had grown accustomed to follow the lead of the ever-strengthening ways of her dear friend, Frances Banks. "She’s [Frances] a good leader, Marian and has been with me every step of the way, as I liked to write such as yourself. It is wonderful to be able to move a pen with you and through you now. But, as you well know, the glory of it goes to God, our original Source. We will meet one day in this world. Until then, it is your role and your reins for this bold originality that you are willing to share. Many are stepping forth now and it is a momentous time in the aspect of continuous flow of God/Source."

In their midst I observed the ease and banter between beloved friends who had joined their minds with mine.

No sooner had I pondered their words, when Florence returned and explained, You will learn to decipher our tone as you go along. It’s going to be amazing and so very exciting, and brings me the greatest of pleasures. It’s been so long since I have taken a pen to paper as well and it is exhilarating to say the least.

Then it came, a reprimand from them informing me that in order to continue to take my place among their festivities I must take better care of the physical body that surrounds my soul. At least, that’s how they referred to it. They said, health; good health is imperative. Take charge of yours and become the ruler of it and not the victim of it! They minced no words telling me that I was lacking, even to the point of asking me if their questioning made sense. More determined, Frances in no uncertain terms said she hoped she’d made herself clear, adding that it was all out of love my dear girl, for you and most especially for this work. Actually, it hadn’t come as a surprise. I had been feeling for quite some time that I needed to step up my self-care.

Frances did not let up. She did give me credit, saying this had been a good beginning and we could talk soon. I was to build upon my strengths more and more. She further explained that this would be an empowerment for each soul that joined in this collaboration. That we would build upon one another’s energy; all of us. It was wonderful indeed.

The following night as I settled in before sleep, I decided to continue reading Testimony of Light. For the many times I had read and reread its pages, it had never become redundant and I was glued to the amazing story Frances Banks exquisitely detailed of her journey in the afterlife.

As I came into rhythm in my relationship with these souls I began to sense when to put the book down to receive further guidance from Spirit. I should explain as you read, I also receive channeled messages from a group in spirit who refer to themselves as The Brotherhood. For more than seventeen years, I have become comfortable listening to them. They were indeed present as I read and spoke to me, And so it is Marian that our thoughts flow easily with yours. We’ve only had to think a thought and it is registered into your receptive mind. You’ve adjusted quite beautifully over the years and our world has a greater opportunity to come through to you because you have an ignited purpose to this work.

They were very accurate. I felt renewed with purpose, more learning and now a book to write. They explained that there were many who could benefit from understanding that death does not need to be feared. The greater aspect of this book is to tell everyone who will listen that life goes on and there is no fear that will consume you as a departed soul. Life in spirit is teeming with possibilities and rigorous lessons about what happens to you in your return to Oneness.

They asked me to take time to allow the work to settle within my bones and added that truth is a deep knowing and all are becoming ready for this great uptick. I felt an alignment with their thoughts as my personal life was showing me that a significant change was brewing, and I was being prepared in some way. Spirit added, there would be individuals who cannot or will not understand the uplifting occurring and therefore would transition and return to their spirit form and wait until it was convenient for them to incarnate again to the physical world. There was never any judgment within their words about those choices being made. It made me aware there surely was a course that was being laid out. Spirit explained that the word for this great process is freedom. The souls who come to the world of spirit are eventually or easily freed to let go of all earthly pains and concerns and are simply allowed to grow. That is the purpose here in spirit; continued growth. They concluded, there isn’t any growth there in the physical that is as comparable.

I sat and contemplated all of it, relieved I had written it down. Spirit often spoke and chose words much differently than I was accustomed to using in my day-to-day speaking. From time to time, I even had to look up definitions of words they utilized in their communications. So, yes I wrote down their guidance. If I didn’t, their tenets would have faded from my memory and I never wanted to forget their valuable teachings.

I waited a minute or so when I felt Frances, Florence and Helen were present again.

There is nothing to worry about with any of the details. It appeared they knew me and my anxiety and said, "Remember all of us have done this kind of thing before. We’ve written and published books with great heart and succeeded. So, your concerns, pardon
