    Dedication

This book is dedicated to God and my loyal editor, David Underwood who is not only the father of my two youngest Godsons, but also a modern-day scholar, gentleman, preacher, and servant of the Lord. Something great is coming your way!

    Introduction

While in Sunday School I was explaining to the class not only the necessity, but also the responsibility of reconciliation between God and man as well as between man and man. The conclusion that came from it was: It’s hard to jump over man and get to God.

In essence, it takes a lot of work to access God when you know you have some level of disagreement and disunity with your neighbor, especially if one of you carries an offense from the other.

I explained that sometimes we are challenged when connecting with God during our worship and our sacrifices. This is because we have not done the work of reconciliation with our neighbor who we are sharing time and space with on Earth.

It is synonymous with the crab in the bucket scenario: As soon as one crab tries to climb out or up another crab pulls them back down. I’ve seen people endeavor to reach heaven with honest and focused praise. However, the fact of the matter is that the energy is pulled back by the person carrying the offense. The person is wounded by something that we have done that we have either not fully or totally refused to reconcile.

And that is what this book is about. It’s about people making an effort to restore their relationship with God, with themselves and with others. It took two years to write this introduction but believe it or not this book was written even before this introduction was written. That may be because it was not ready to be released and introduced into the world until its writer had fully, not partially reconciled his relationship with God, with himself and with others who he didn’t even know he offended.

As you journey through these pages listen to every message, read it aloud and let your ears hear what your eyes are reading. Let the words of reconciliation guide you to full reconciliation. Use the blank lines we have included after each passage to share your initial thoughts and revisit them. When this happens, you will experience a connection with heaven, within and with others that will be free flowing and life-giving. And don’t store this book on a shelf, share it with somebody else… It makes the way for others to be reconciled…

Enjoy the process of Making It Right.

    Chapter One

He Took The Hit For Me

You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly….. While we were still sinners, Christ died for us..

    Romans 5:1-11 (KJV)

But more than just getting us out of trouble, he got us into life!

    Romans 5:1-11 (MSG)

In 2006 the Attorney General of the United States of America released a report on criminal history background checks that included the following executive summary: There is a widespread interest in obtaining access to criminal history record information from reliable sources for the purpose of screening an individual’s suitability for employment, licensing, or placement in positions of trust. The interest comes from private and public employers, as well as non-profit organizations that place employees and volunteers to work with vulnerable populations such as children, the elderly and disabled persons.

The interest is based on a desire or perceived need to evaluate the risk of hiring or placing someone with a criminal record in particular positions and is intended to protect employees, customers, vulnerable persons, and business assets. Employers and organizations are subject to potential liability under negligent hiring doctrines if they fail to exercise due diligence in determining whether an applicant has a criminal history that is relevant to the responsibilities of a job and determining whether placement of the individual in the position would create an unreasonable risk to other employees or the public. In addition to addressing this litigation risk, employers want to assess the risk to their assets and reputations posed by placing persons with a criminal history in certain positions.

To meet these business needs, employers can and frequently do ask applicants whether they have a criminal history. Such employers and organizations want to obtain criminal records and histories to determine whether applicants are answering the question about their criminal history truthfully and completely.

Now if an individual has a criminal history these records are generally used by potential employers, lenders, etc., to assess his or her trustworthiness. This information varies between countries and even between jurisdictions within a country. In most cases, it lists all non-expunged criminal offenses and may also include traffic offenses such as speeding and drunk driving.
