Chapter I
Search For Strategies (that Work!)
Description
As several squadrons of Stealth combat fighters were flying on their night patrol throughout their jurisdictional territories in the stillness across the horizon, the commander tells all of the pilots to turn on the cruise control and set course toward the base. He chuckles while he sarcastically shakes his head and says to his crew:
There are only a few hot spots as usual but not enough to worry about that would mean launching an air strike. It is the same everywhere! There is not much action again. Our strategic and tactical attacks are very effective in nullifying and muffing our enemy. At this rate, we can reduce our recon patrol size because our surges have been working better than what we thought. If those Christians only knew the authority that they have and how they could defeat us, then we would be on the run. Whatever we are doing, let’s keep doing it! Now, let’s go home!
It may seem like one of those scenes from a Hollywood production or military communication transmission in an inactive war zone after spending billions of dollars and losing thousands of lives. It is an attempt to describe our common enemy, Satan, engaging in warfare against the Christian world.
Apologetics
To think that this illustration may be ridiculous or offensive warrants some thought provocation, soul-searching, and Bible studies. It is time to come to terms with, in no stretch of the imagination, realistic acceptance of our present status.
We are doing ‘things’ like giving money, establishing foundations, intermittently appearing in church services, politicking, and selling foods for fundraising. What substantive recognition relates to the true elements of God’s Word? If we can match our actions with accurate interpretations and full application, we stand a better chance of recovering from some of our common mistakes.
Abstractly, we relate or associate with God because of accepting His salvation, but minimize the discipline in discipleship. We have been used to having our way about what we want, how we want, and how many times we want without discipline, externally or internally. The need to have our appetites calibrated to regulate our participations and intakes seems to be undesirable.
This discipline adversely reroutes our appetites from being seduced by the toxic worldly principles and views to direct this hunger to live for Him in this world. Although we have some knowledge of these things, we are somewhat vulnerable and naïve to the supernatural implications, effects, and severe consequences. As a result, we are being taken advantage of by an intermediate wicked power source.
I am not implying that Satan is greater than Almighty God Himself or that God does not have the ability to make us stronger than our formidable foe. However, I am suggesting that a large number of Christians choose not to live and walk in the strength of His Word in faith through the empowering relationship with Him.
This is to bring attention to our commons errors, and point out the strategies and tricks of Lucifer, the fallen one. Some of them may be inconspicuous, subtle, and just plain obvious. All of which are reeking havoc in some way. We need to know and understand how to address these actions.
We are making incorrect decisions and inducting exceptions to His standards revealed in His Word for our lives. Too many believers, even in church management, have derailed the full imposition of these necessary standards because they themselves have had some difficulty complying with them. Without sufficient understanding and personal victories, some individuals have blazed an alternate trail to relieve the pressure that the power of sin, in their own flesh, might be resuscitated.
These exceptions are opening additional wrong doors, not closing existing ones, blinding our eyes, hardening our hearts, ignoring the LORD’s voice, and rendering His power helpless to act. They are providing a lifeline for wickedness to stay alive in those who resist His selections for sin fasting. We get further away from the selected choices for us.
In making these choices, we proceed to follow the paths that lead us on a destiny of more erroneous events. We are caught up in some scenarios with fixed traps.
Let’s use these words for this description. ‘Behind Door Number One is something bad. Behind Door Number Two is something worse than that. Now, behind Door Number Three is the worst of all. So which door do you choose?’
If you think this sounds silly, then picture yourself being that person because we actually do this, but the details and terms are disguised a little better into real life issues. Those types of circumstances should not be our only options to choose, but we are on the destiny that God did not choose. Sometimes we really make a mess of things and find ourselves in these struggles.
For example, we may be in a relationship, marital or partner, and the conditions are not very pleasant. That is when another person may be looking good right about now. Ignoring the commitment and the boundaries seems to be justifiable.
Another example is, since one got away with an unlawful act once, he or she can do it again. Lastly, telling one lie to cover up means continuously telling another lie to cover the previous ones until there is no end to telling lies no matter what color we may give them and there is no space for truth.
Subsequently, we use strategies that cannot get us out, but sink us deeper and deeper into murkier waters. As we get further away from God, our issues compound and become too complex until it seems nearly hopeless. Afterwards, feelings of desperation come but we are quite undiscerning of our exit from these complications.
In the Bible, the prodigal son experienced some tough times, people, and places where he was very uncomfortable. Attempting to survive in unusual conditions and prolonging the time to change placed him in an undesirable situation. Uncharacteristically, he found himself about to eat with the pigs and settle for an unusual lifestyle until he remembered his best option.
15, Then he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country, and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. 16, And he would gladly have filled his stomach with the pods that the swine ate, and no one gave him anything. 17, But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! 18, I will
