CHAPTER 1
WHAT IS A METEOR SHOWER?
Do you ever look up at the night sky? It is very beautiful, especially on a clear night. You can see lots of twinkling lights. Some are stars. Others are planets.
When looking at the sky, do you ever notice how some twinkling lights stay in the same place while others seem to move across the sky? Maybe you’ve even seen a quick trail of light in the night sky. That is a meteor. It is often called a shooting star. Several shooting stars in a short period are called a meteor shower. What causes meteor showers? What can we learn from them? And what do they leave behind? The answers will fascinate you.
