Chapter 31: TakuNeri Ball

Oh man, oh man… What do I do?

Nerisu was invited to a fancy ball, with a bunch of high-class nobles along with their partners…

I was honoured to be invited because she was so eager to spend more time with me doing things like this, but it was… somewhat nerve-wracking, in my eyes?

I hope that I won’t attract a whole lot of attention! ...Who am I kidding, I’m the princess’ significant other!

The only few people I could talk about this with were Takataka, Yuu and Iori. They offered to help me pick out a suit as well, to boot.

So, today was the day we spent some alone time away from our partners and had a guy's night out sort of thing.

Remember that suit you wore for Nerisu? Why don’t you wear that again? Iori commented.

That would be pretty tacky! Oh Iori, you should know that for these types of events, wearing a custom-made outfit makes you look even better! Yuu shook his head in response to Iori.

R-Right. I think she’d rather see me in a different outfit as well. I nodded.

We went through several types of suits, they seemed fitting for office jobs and the like.

After some bickering and more looking around, I decided to choose a tuxedo in black.

I thought it made me look pretty stylish! It was making me fond of black, too.

We finished off the day eating pizza, and now I was finally ready for the ball!

Today was the day, and I sure was really nervous about it.

Before the event, I put on my black tuxedo and wore black pants and shoes.

I was looking forward to seeing what Nerisu will be wearing, she was as beautiful as always!

She was able to make any outfit look fashionable. I was blessed to be with her!

After a while, she appeared in the lounge room after prettying herself up.

I… was at a loss for words. The dress was very frilly with a rose on her chest. Th-The… it accentuated her figure, too.

O-Oh gosh…

What’s wrong, darling? You don’t like it or something?

N-No! You look stunning, you’re so beautiful!!

After our little chat, she gave me a big hug and kissed my cheek.

Ehehe, you’re looking really good, too! I’m so happy we’re together as well~

She had this rather coy look on her face.

I leaned in and gently pecked her lips as well.

Well then, let’s go and have a great time! She had a big smile on her face afterward.

We exited her house before locking it up with the mobile app that was widely known, making out way to the teleporter nearby.

It felt a bit weird walking outside in a fancy outfit, Nerisu seemed like she was having a somewhat hard time getting used to it, because of all the reactions from other people.

The ball was in the centre of Nairilune, many people were making their way there, either by teleportation and vehicles like planes and cars.

As soon as we arrived, most of the people ahead of us moved out of the way so we could be one of the first people to enter.

I guess this is what being royalty is like, huh…

Upon entering, there was a bunch of tables in the room with a big, spacious floor that definitely looked like it was meant for dancing.

In all honesty, I wasn’t much of a dancer, but this was one of the few things I didn’t know whether Nerisu was skilled in it or not.

Looks like we’ll find out!

Immediately after we walked in, Nerisu was already snacking on the food that was there.

You’re super hungry? I stated.

Yes! Food at events like these is always so good, I make sure I can eat a lot of it instead of putting it to waste! She responded.

Well, I guess you do have a point there… Make sure to leave some for the others, too.

She puffed her cheeks and crossed her arms after munching on some meat.

I will! There’s way too much here for just me, in any case!

People eventually started walking in as the ball started.

I stood with Nerisu as she ravenously munched on the food.

She didn't seem too focused on the dancing aspect, there were already several couples showing off their moves or doing ballroom dancing.

Nerisu…

Yes, darling?

Have you ever been really interested in dancing? I questioned.

Umm… Well, in all honesty, I’m not too experienced in it! She rubbed the back of her head. I don’t think it will hurt to give it a go, if you really wanted to…

It’s not like we’ll be doing this all the time, so I personally agree with you! I’m not too experienced in dancing, either.

When she finished wiping her hands cleaned, I held onto them gently.

I’d be honoured to dance with you this once, my sweet.

I guided her over to the dance floor, swaying back and forth with her while she rested her head on my left shoulder.

Our bodies were pressed against each other, I enjoyed this sensation quite a bit.

I twirled her around, making sure she would return to me as I embraced her slightly.

Something I noticed was that Nerisu sometimes stepped on my feet or was somewhat unsteady.

She was right, this was something that was very new to her!

S-Sorry… She apologised meekly.

It’s okay, Nerisu. I don’t mind at all.

I pressed a gentle kiss against her lips, smiling at my most precious person in the world.

The moment lasted for an hour or two, but I didn’t regret it at all.

Eventually, the ball was over, Nerisu and I danced for an hour.

It was definitely worth it, even if I wasn’t used to events like these.

Did you enjoy it, darling? Nerisu asked as soon as we returned home.

I-I did… It’d be nice to do something like that again, maybe with your friends?

Great idea! I’ll have to arrange that sometime then, ehehe~

That was the end of one of our first experiences as a couple.

I never get tired of hearing Nerisu use that pet name when it comes to me…

I’ve been wondering for a while now!

Well… What are we going to do in the future? We’re already a loving couple, but maybe we should aim for something more?

Hearing those words reminded me of how she was royalty, naturally she had to plan for her future.

You have a point. While I’m interested in some things, I think we should wait until we’ve dated for a longer period of time.

It’s only been a few months since we’ve started dating, taking it slow at the moment could avoid having potential problems in the future.

She then kissed me on the cheek, grinning with a cute blush.

Now that I think about it, taking it slowly probably will be easier on us!

I’m glad you think so. It doesn’t mean that I don’t want to do romantic things with you, but taking it easy is generally a good thing, I’d say.

She placed a few small kisses to my cheeks and lips.

You know, I wonder what our lives would be like if we weren’t fairly well-off people!

Thinking about things like that came off as fairly typical for her status.

You’d often expect her to be haughty and rude, but she naturally had a cheerful disposition.

That’s likely one of the reasons why she’s so popular.

Having conversations like these with Nerisu was rather refreshing.

Then she comes over and pets my head and cat ears, eliciting purrs from me.

I don’t see why not. I really wouldn’t want to make you unhappy by monopolising all of your time with them, besides, I’d like to get to know them too.

Knowing that she also wanted to spend a lot of time with me spurred heartwarming feelings into my heart.

In some relationships, one side of the couple tends to be overly clingy! In our case, it seems that both of us are on the same wavelength, I think?

Right. They also say that couples without arguments can sometimes fall apart due to how possibly neither parties admit their problems to the other.

She looked like she wanted things to mainly be happy-go-lucky for the most part, which given her personality, I couldn’t really blame her.

The cafe we walked to in West Nairilune was called Cake Delights.

It was fairly popular, boasting a variety of desserts one could eat there or take back home with.

It was around a twenty-five-minute walk, which tired Nerisu out
