About this ebook

A collection of rhymimg poems that I have written a while ago and finally got ready for publication. Roger Vincent

I live in Porirua, New Zealand and work in another city as an electronic technician. I have enjoyed rhyming poetry since I was a young boy when my mum used to recite rhyming poetry to me that she had learned at school. I enjoy walking and running on all the seaside and bush trails here in Porirua and the surrounding cities. My favourite place to run is on the beach which thankfully New Zealand has plenty of. I belong to the Aurora Harrier club and have also joined a horticultural society with the aim of being an amazing gardener like my mum and dad were - I have a long way to go but I enjoy it none-the-less.

    The Mirror

Upon a shattered mirror we rode,

we rode the seven waves high.

Upon a shattered mirror we rode,

we rode into a moonlit sky.

Upon a gulls call we turned,

we turned into a starry night.

As the gull screamed and banked,

we turned into the scattered night.

Upon the moons breath we glided,

    soul and spirit floating free.

    As the moon breathed upon,

    soul and spirit calling me.

    Sleeping now beneath the black,

    fast in slumber, gliding slow.

    Sleeping now beneath a star,

    seven waves behind us flow.

    Sun upon the mirror rose,

from our dreamy sleep we waken.

    Shattered mirror fell and rose,

into the morning we are shaken.

Our journeys end we have not found,

    shattered mirror burns so bright.

Still it guides us through the day,

divides the darkness and the light.

    The Crescent Moon

    The crescent moon is calling,

    from far beyond the blue.

    Calling with its downcast shadows,

    calling with its eerie hue.

A star shines bright above the moon,

    a traitor to its kind.

    Others there are dimly lit,

    they fade upon the mind.

A breeze comes now upon the ground,

    creeping through the leaves.

From a hiding place it comes,

    unannounced it believes.

It chills the grass and bites at roots,

    then heads towards a stream.

To the water it is lost,

    a nightmare of a dream.

    This place it tells of
