    Jamerson - Mandy Bee

    CHAPTER 1

    Jamerson

    Ugh.

    Another day, another dollar.

    Another day, another dollar.

Repeating this to myself over and over isn’t helping me like it used too. Knowing I need every dollar I can get and knowing if I shove this watermelon right up my boss’s perfectly sculpted ass that I wouldn’t be able to make rent this month usually keeps me in check. However, today nothing is working.

When I stepped in to help my cousin out, after she broke her leg, I thought this would be an easy job. Being a personal chef to one man should be a cakewalk compared to some of the nightmare jobs I’ve had.

Most men think cooking is woman’s work. It’s their wife’s job to cook all the meals for the family. In the restaurant world it’s the opposite. Women are not easily accepted in professional kitchens until they have proven themselves. But how can we prove ourselves if we aren’t given a chance to?

Five years later and I’m still trying to prove myself. I’ve done everything from pot washer to line cook, but never once was I give the chance to show what I can do. The one time I took a chance and tried to show the head chef what I could do, I paid dearly for it. Now thanks to that one little lapse in judgment I’m stuck cooking for the most annoy, stuck up, sexiest, cockiest man on the planet.

Keep it together Ally, three more weeks, that’s all you have to get through, then you can tell this jerk what you really think of him and walk away for good.

Glancing up I have to force myself not to roll my eyes. He’s still watching me like a hawk. Jamerson Rose, a hot shot Nascar race car driver and internationally known computer geek, who by the way doesn’t look like any geek I’ve ever known, is standing on the other side of the island, in his massive kitchen, watching me cut up a freaking watermelon.

He could easily grace the pages of GQ. With his Hollywood good looks, his sexy come get me smile, and his sexy as sin body. But it’s his eyes that I’ve always found fascinating. I find myself watching him when he’s not really looking. His eyes are usually light brown with a hint of green around the outside. But when he’s in deep thought, or when he’s about to blow his lid, the green comes out more and small specks of gold can be seen between the two colors.

Jamerson became famous for his driving but over a decade ago he created some computer program that every company nowadays can’t live without. I’ve never understood computer talk, I can do basic stuff on my laptop but when it comes to software or hardware talk, I’m clueless.

If you dice that too small it will become too mushy. Jen’s watermelon salad has bigger pieces in it. Jamerson tells me, once again I have to stop myself from rolling my eyes.

"Yes, I know. I’m doing it the same way she
