About this ebook

Eve and Athena have enjoyed a good ratty life with Malachi in the blackberry bushes behind the farm. They've gone on adventures, made friends, and created a family. Eve can feel herself slowing down, but she's not worried. Eve has done everything she ever wanted.

Except…Malachi still doesn't have his wings.

Then one day the coyote returns, seeking to pay the debt he owes to the rats and the snake. He has found the dragon who can grant Malachi's wings. The way will be dangerous, but Eve thinks she has the strength for one last adventure.

This is the 6th and final volume in the Eve and Malachi series.

There once was a rat named Eve, who had an unusual family. Her best friends were her sister Athena and a boa constrictor named Malachi. They lived with their cousins, Albert and Persephone. The colony had two feline allies—a calico named Effy and a black cat named Mew. They were even friends with a little half-selkie girl who could talk to animals, Gwen.

When Eve and Athena were six months old, they helped the lions at the zoo save their cub. In the process, the colony added two zoo rats—brothers named Crumble and Sweets. Crumble and Eve got along very well, as did Athena and Sweets. They became mates and had babies in the blackberry bushes that summer.

Malachi ate eggs from the chicken coop to avoid hurting his friends. Gwen brought a tub of water to the blackberry bushes, so that he could shed his skin in a safe place. He kept predators away, and Gwen visited with stories. Eve taught Crumble to watch TV through the window of the farmhouse and to find delicious treats in the trash, as well as pine seeds in the woods. Athena taught Sweets to ride on Mew, even though everyone laughed at them.

    When winter came again, Gwen
