    #5

On July 13, 2008, Krista Rentz flew to North Carolina to look for Nancy. She called her sister's husband, Brad, and told him that Nancy was missing. She immediately booked a flight back to Edmonton, but a storm grounded all the planes in nearby Buffalo, New York, so she rented a car and drove the seven hundred miles by herself.

    #6

By Sunday, everyone in the neighborhood had heard the devastating news. Nancy was missing, and they were determined to find her. The normally quiet subdivision was a frenzy of activity as a small army of people fanned out in every direction, posting yellow fliers with Nancy’s picture on every possible space.

    #7

On Monday, July 14, the search continued. Volunteers packed the parking lot of Lochmere, and cars continued to stream in throughout the morning.

    #8

After Nancy’s murder, her twin sister, Krista, gave police an in-depth interview about her sister and her habits. She wanted to give authorities every possible piece of information about her sister and her life that might help them solve the case.

The police department called a press conference to discuss the case. The family of the missing girl stood awkwardly next to the podium as the chief referenced each one of them by name. They had not yet settled into their public roles.

    #10

The police continued to search for Nancy, and did not name a suspect or a person of interest in the case. They believed that Nancy was still alive and a missing person. They did not comment on whether Nancy had any conflicts with her husband, Brad.
