Introduction

Jesus has entrusted each of us with his Great Commission. We’re to go into the world and preach the gospel (Mark 16:15). Did you know that our nation’s founders who sailed across the ocean on the Mayflower ship were fulfilling this God given mission? On Day 1, you’re going to read about the mission they embarked on to bring God glory. It’s the same mission you have too.

In the subsequent days, you’re going to read the Declaration of Independence and President George Washington’s Inaugural Address and discover how America was not only founded to bring God glory, but that it’s the key to your life, liberty, and happiness.

In this devotional, each day you’ll read one of the historical founding documents of the United States and a selection of Scripture that I’ve chosen that illustrates the biblical truths corresponding to the topic of the day. I’ve underlined some of the text in the historical documents so you can easily refer back to statements we’re focusing on each day.

The daily reading is followed up by a brief explanation of the Scripture. Then comes the lesson and application in which I present you a key truth and a question to consider for the day. The daily reading ends with a prayer. I estimate it’ll take you about ten minutes to read each day.

Get ready to see God’s plan for America and for you revealed!

This day, before we came to harbour, observing some not well affected to unity and concord, but gave some appearance of faction, it was thought good there should be an association and agreement, that we should combine together in one body, and to submit to such government and governors as we should by common consent agree to make and choose, and set our hands to this that follows, word for word.
