    She groaned, shifting her weight, trying to find a comfortable position. Something dug into her ribcage. Begrudgingly she opened her eyes. She jumped up when she realized she was not in her bed, but rather in the middle of a dense forest. Slowly getting to her feet, she tried to assess her surroundings.

    She'd certainly never been here before. She avoided forests in general, ever since she was a child. She used to have recurring nightmares about forests and the things that go bump in the dark.

    Her heart  pounded in her chest, and she frantically looked around for a path, or any sign of civilization. There was nothing except walls of trees and crushing darkness. She desperately tried to slow her breathing and steady her mind.

    She started moving, completely unaware which way she should be going. There seemed to be noises all around her. The rustling of the wind through the trees, the call of birds, the chirping of insects. And screaming. Somewhere, deep in the forest, there was a faint screaming.

    Cautiously moving forward, she tried to determine the direction the sound was coming from. It seemed to be all around her. The cries didn't seem to be out of pain, but rather sheer
