I had much so much fun in creating this story it has encouraged me to venture into writing more tales in the realms of 'Comic book /Pu;p fiction' Science fiction.

Mechanical Mike is a fun tale, a modern pulp fictional story of Metal Robotics, Nazi-occupied France and Love.

I originally penned this for a science fiction website that never became a reality, so with a few alterations and edits, I have made Mechanical Mike into an Electric Eclectic Novelette.

Waking

Mechanical Mike

There was a strange humming in my head as I prized my eyes open. I could see flaking plaster dangling from the ceiling between the industrial fluorescent lighting. Pushing myself into a sitting position every joint seemed to creak and groan. I knew I was in a bad way. My whole body was shaking, an uncontrollable vibrating which matched the whirring inside my head.

It must have been a pretty good night. I cannot recall feeling like this since… since when?

That was a good question. My thoughts were blank. Besides wishing to know where the hell I was and asking myself how did I get here?

I tried to think. Nothing.

I was drawing a blank.

I stood and raised my hands to rub the weariness from my eyes when I froze. My hands were clad in metal gauntlets. Hey, my arms were covered in metal too.

What the heck is going on? I said this out loudly, which gave me another shock.
