#1 Fitz and I had arrived in Pucallpa, Peru, three days earlier than expected. We were ready to go around the world, but I was nervous about how we were going to afford it. We had a rough itinerary in our hands.

#2 When we returned to Pucallpa, the airport had dried enough for use the next morning. We were first in line, but were quickly pushed aside when the clerk opened his window to sell tickets. The tickets were sold out within minutes.

#3 We were finally ready to leave Pucallpa. We would fly to Puerto Maldonado, where we would catch a commercial riverboat across Bolivia to Riberalta and then hitch a ride into Brazil. With luck, we might make the coast in time for Carnaval on March 6.
