Chapter One

Is this the last box? Zeke yelled.

Quit your complaining piercer boy, Kat smiled.

Why can’t you two ever get along? Frankie laughed.

Sarah Griffin was lucky enough to come from the small-town Liberty, Massachusetts, where everyone knew each other.

Sarah heard Frankie laugh and knew that Zeke was tickling her. They had met when Frankie stopped in Liberty to find her brother, Jett. Even though she was younger than the trio, she had grown up with Zeke Nanuk, Kat Simmons and Jazz Quinn.

Jett, how are my beautiful niece and nephew? Kat asked.

They’re little demons getting into everything, Jett smirked.

Now, now, you know you absolutely love it, Sarah laughed.

I do. It’s hard to believe they’re almost two, Jett smiled.

I know, JJ is just starting to sleep through the night, Kat smiled.

Sarah smiled at the talk of children, if her baby hadn’t died, he or she would be growing up in this mess of chaos.

Zeke, when are you finally going to marry Frankie? I’m waiting on some more babies, Kat smiled.

Okay, have you been talking to Mom? Zeke asked.

Maybe... Kat grinned. She promised me free double chocolate donuts if I could get you guys to nail down a date.

Shit, you’re in trouble now, Sarah said.

Kat hadn’t been able to have her favorite donut while she was pregnant, the smell made her puke.

Jett, there’s a few more boxes, Zeke shouted.

So, Sarah, Kat grinned.

So, Kat, Sarah laughed.

Have you told James that you’ve moved to New Haven? Kat asked.

Subtle, Frankie smirked.

That was subtle, Kat laughed.

While Sarah was listening to the girls teasing each other, her thoughts wandered back to the week she’d spent with James over a year ago. She promised he would be her first date when she was ready, too bad she hadn’t been ready for over a year. This was the reason she was moving to New Haven, starting a new job teaching second grade, the memories were unbearable sometimes. Sarah needed a change.

She shook the thoughts of James away, No I haven’t, it’s been over a year. I’m sure he’s dating someone by now.

Well, he just... Kat started to say before Frankie smacked her.

I think this move will be good for you, Frankie smiled. My question for you, does your dad know exactly where the school is located?

No, I’m not telling him and neither are you, Sarah snapped.

Chapter Two

James Williams had finished up his last phone call, it had been a long day at Phoenix Securities.

Dipshit, what are you doing? a voice asked.

What the hell? Landon, what are you doing here? James asked, hugging him. And where’s that beautiful girl of yours?

Birdie, your niece, is with her Aunt Jazz back at the apartment, Landon smiled.

Where’s Kat? Is everything okay? James asked.

Everything is good, they are helping...wait a minute? You don’t know? Landon asked, laughing, Oh shit, Kat never told you...I mean...well. Jett, Zeke, Frankie and Kat are moving Sarah into her new apartment.

That’s good, but it doesn’t explain...damnit Kat, I’m going to kick your wife’s ass the next time I see her. That’s why she was asking questions if I was dating anyone. Sarah is moving here, to New Haven, James rambled.

Sarah took a job at Sheffield Elementary School, teaching second grade, Landon explained.
