FOREWORD
The Dongzhi Festival is a celebration that takes place in China, Asia. In addition to worshiping ancestors, people in China acknowledge the festival on Winter Solstice day to celebrate the arrival of a new and more prosperous season - spring.
The celebration is believed to have started 2,500 years ago when an individual named Zhougfong used a sundial to identify the shortest days of the year ("Dongzhi Festival - Winter Solstice Festival Celebrated in China''). Typically, myths like the one about a healer, Zhang Zhongjing, are brought up to understand one of the largest traditions of the Dongzhi festival - dumpling feasts (Jiang).
