About this ebook
Please note: This is a companion version & not the original book.
#1 I was 18 years old when I went to college, and I was scared all the time. I was afraid to ask the other students what the professor meant when he said our reading was reserved in the library. I was too scared to use my zip card in the cafeteria line, in case there was a trick to it.
#2 We all make mistakes, but when we turn our faces away and pretend to be better than others, we allow them to think that they are repulsive.
#3 The girl in the bathroom was passed out, her head resting on the floor next to the toilet, a big smear of excrement extending out from between her sprawled legs. I’d never seen someone who’d shit themselves before, let alone publicly.
#4 I had to help a girl who had passed out in the bathroom. She was covered in her own vomit and her underwear was soiled, which made us all extremely uncomfortable. I can’t get that image out of my mind.

Insights from Chapter 2
#1
When we got to the top of the hill, we saw our husbands already halfway down, talking. We took any chance we got to get some peace and quiet.
#2
I was getting LASIK surgery tomorrow, and I had to let my eyeball spring back on its own. I was imagining the trees buried beneath me, and I thought of a scene in a film where a dead pharaoh was being laid to rest in his underground burial chamber.
