About this ebook

In the second book of the series Merchants Without Borders, Matt faces many moral, legal, and scrupulous decisions. He wants to help Stefan Syn Vostoka protect his fisheries and his empire. The political wars of Russia, Ukraine, and the world are closing in on him and Stefan. They finally are separated by more than the waters between their countries. The political embargos and policy changes ultimately thwart their overall goals. To engage in manufacturing and distribution of weapons is controlled heavily by both countries. Matt has found a way to manufacture legally but he cannot distribute to many countries, especially Russia.

    FOREWARD:

No matter the reason, people suffer from the greedy, waring results of unscrupulous politicians in the world.

To place oneself above his fellow man is derogatory to the free spirit of all individuals. To think that you can rule better than the next man and that you know how to make the correct decisions for everyone is pompous to the welfare of any man, country, or the world.

    Imagine all the people…

    Preface.

Matt must force himself to play by his country’s rules. Let’s face it. He is a rogue. He tries to be lawful but the best he can be is Lawfully Rogue.

Cross him, and he becomes vicious. Every day he becomes more like Stefan Syn Volstoka. He starts to understand why Stefan is the way he is as a man, a leader, and an entrepreneur.

To Matt and the men like him, do good deeds and love your fellow man.

Chapter 1: Arriving Home from Russia

I thought about Stefan Syn Vostoka a lot over the long Pacific Ocean flight back to the States. It had occurred to me that his life and business was not only about Sturgeon Caviar and Kamchatka Bay Oysters. The money did not add up in respect to the place where he lived in Magadan. There had to be more to it. My guess it involves gold and diamonds.

I tried to put two and two together and produce the correct answer that would satisfy my mind. So, I started gathering in all the people’s names and I listed them mentally that had attended the party. I put the names to faces in my mind. I like to play another game. The game where you figure out what piece of the puzzle is missing. I started thinking, What powerful person was not at the party at Stefan’s home?

The Magadan region to the northeast of the area is the gold hub of the East Coast of Russia. It occurred to me that the diamond mine owner was not there. The jeweler and the gold mine owner were there, but not the diamond pit owner. Then it hit me, the diamond mine owner was Stefan. I smiled having solved the equation.

I looked out over the Pacific Ocean and thought, how good it will feel to get back to the USA. We were only an hour out now from LAX, Los Angeles International Airport. Eva was snuggling up close to me. Gosh the smell of her hair was so wonderful. It had been a grueling trip to Russia. And yet, I would have to say without a doubt, Mongolia was the most romantic part of the entire trip.

The scariest part of the trip was Gorno-Altyzk. I really needed to figure out how I could carry a gun legally in Russia. Now that is funny; that will never happen. I was already married so I could not marry a Russian spy girl to get my gun. Let’s face it, nothing was comparable to what Vil’yam and Natalya went through.

The task of telling Judy Pursing and her father Dr. Pursing about Bill loomed on my horizon. I kept trying to figure out the best way. Then it hit me, I have Eva to help me figure this out. I also had Scott as a sounding board for the rest of the trip to Eureka.

I could see the coast now, and I knew we were close to our destination. There was no luggage for us, just our carry-on luggage. We went down the ramp straight into the arrival area for international flights where we had to declare the diamonds. Eva was wearing her big diamond. We declared the value of the diamonds and showed them the purchase order the old man had written up for us. I paid the duty and taxes, about ten thousand dollars. Kiss that goodbye, children.

We then headed for the main lobby and out past the restricted area into the real world. We caught a bus that took us over to the small plane facility, where we had to go through the TSA thing and get searched again. I hate this stuff.

You cannot imagine the ridiculous cost to the country and its people on some of these security issues involving TSA policies and procedures. The time it cost businesses and the average person is ridiculous. The entire thing is torturous.

Scott was waiting for us there and we all hugged each other. He walked us out to his Kodiak 100, and it almost hurt my feelings looking at his, knowing mine was gone. I am going to miss that beautiful girl.

Scott radioed the tower, Come in LAX ATC, NW550, located at small plane fuel depot, requesting easterly departure to BUR, with information Bravo. The tower replied, NW550, ATC, take access road, turn left cross runway twenty, turn left on runway twenty-one stop at double lines. Scott replied, Come in LAX ATC, NW550, Runway 21 double lines, requesting take off to BUR, with info Bravo. The tower replied, ATC, NW550, cleared for takeoff."

We no sooner got up in the air and Scott radioed, BUR ATC, NW550, requesting taxi instructions to freight depot. Bur Tower replied,

NW550, ATC, fly straight in on Runway 2, turn right into freight depot. Ronnie was standing there outside the depot with another load of bicycles, and we loaded them in the plane immediately. I tipped him a twenty. Scott was on the radio again. "ATC, NW550, located at freight depot, requesting North departure
