CONVERTIBLES ON KODACHROME

was trawling through Trade Me looking at interesting old American cars for sale the other night, and I spotted a bright red 1968 Dodge Polara convertible. I wasn’t looking for one of them — not my cup of tea, but I can see that some would like them — but seeing it there suddenly ignited a long-forgotten memory of a car-buying trip I did back in the day, to go and look at a convertible Dodge just like that big red one on Trade Me. Come to think of it, I guess it could even be the same one. Then again, this car-buying trip — which resulted in going home empty-handed, by the way — was 30-something years ago, so what I recall as a red 1968 Dodge Polara convertible might have been something a little different. But it was definitely red, definitely mid-to-late
