About this ebook

The trail of healing may consist of rough and painful terrain, but with Jesus Christ, it will always lead to the place of true freedom and peace. Jesus desperately wants to be the best friend we all need. He is never failing, will never abandon you, and will always be with you. He is your true source of peace and forgiveness.
I Choose Victory offers a candid view of how the enemy attacks our relationships and obscures how we view ourselves and how freedom can be found in Jesus. Author Tricia Jantz shares her story and invites you to travel the road with her and find victory in your own story. Using her personal journey with Jesus through her life struggles, she reveals how she has received victory and freedom in Jesus Christ.
A letter of companionship and a trusted friend during your darkest struggles, this personal narrative and testimony describes one woman’s healing journey with the love of Jesus Christ.

    BEFORE ALL ELSE,

    AN INVITATION

Before all else, I want you to know that the pages to follow are lined with words that share my story of personal struggles and battles and how I found victory and peace in my life. The following pages also are packed full of scripture verses from the Bible that have impacted my life over the years. Why has the Bible impacted me in such a profound way? Because I have chosen to believe God when He says His Word is truth and brings new life.

The instructions of the LORD are perfect, reviving the soul. The decrees of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple. (Psalm 19:7 NLT)

After years of listening to God’s Word read to me as a child, I chose to accept Jesus’s gift of new life. As I began to sincerely study the Bible myself and grow in my friendship with Jesus, I started to see that through the Lord Jesus Christ, I received absolute and precious freedom.

But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. (2 Corinthians 3:16–18 NIV)

If you do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ or have grown apart from your friendship with Him, I invite you to allow Him to be a part of your life. As you read the pages that follow, please consider accepting Jesus’s gift of freedom and new life.

Jesus desperately wants to be the best friend we all need. He is never failing, will never abandon you, and will always be with you. He is your true source of peace and forgiveness.

That if you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. (Romans 10:9–10 NIV)

Would you like to start a friendship with Jesus? The first step is simply letting Jesus know. I have provided a sample prayer below that you can say aloud.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. (John 3:16–17 NIV)

Lord Jesus, I believe the Word is true when the Bible says You came to save. I admit that I cannot do this on my own. Please rescue me from my sins and start anew in my life. I welcome You into all areas of my life. Please guide me, restore me, and help me as I begin this new journey and friendship with You. Thank you, Jesus, for freeing me of my sins and giving me new life. Thank you for loving me. Amen.

Did you just give your life to Jesus? Woo-hoo! I am so excited for you! You are God’s precious child! Please do not keep this incredible news to yourself. Do you know another believer in Jesus whom you trust? I urge you to tell that person your amazing news! Your journey with Jesus has just begun. Please do not be discouraged if you experience highs and lows. Struggles in life may come, but stay strong, knowing that you can trust Jesus. He is your source of strength and peace. Allow other Christ-followers to pray for you and with you and to be an encouragement along the way.

Yay! I am over-the-moon happy for you!

    OPENING NOTE

    FROM TRICIA

First and foremost, the purpose for my sharing a portion of my life song is to give all glory to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It was through my healing journey that I began to describe my life as a song. No matter if a note is flat or sharp. Jesus uses it all to compose a beautiful and unique life song. There are never any notes or chords more important than the others. They all must be written and played for the composition to be truly experienced and heard.

When we allow Jesus Christ to walk beside us through our life journeys, He becomes co-owner of our life songs. There is tremendous power when we vocalize our testimony of how our lives have been renewed and transformed by Him. In doing so, we not only share our life songs but His. When the Lord is glorified and lifted high, the enemy’s leverage is weakened, and his plot against us destroyed, resulting in our experiencing incredible healing and freedom.

Throughout this book, it is my desire to share how immensely Jesus loves you and me. It is impossible to fully explain Jesus’s love, but I will do my best by sharing a piece of my life story and God’s words that I clung to. I believe both are proof of His love. I am thankful that Jesus gave me the gift of the Holy Spirit. Through every movement of my life song, I have strongly felt the Holy Spirit’s presence, filling my voids while guiding and directing me.

God’s incredible, perfect Word has been my life source and my guidebook. I am so thankful Daddy God, the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit desire after me and are thrilled when I visit with them. They
