I taught English in Bavaria for three years. During that time I also studied German. I learned how to speak to people so they can understand my English. At first, I was speaking at a NY pace and no one knew what I meant, but after time I perfected the craft. I wrote this book because I understand this is the best way to learn grammar and sentence structure.

Welcome to New York
MY FAMILY SAID NEW York is big, but my family has never been to New York.
My best friend said New Yorkers are serious. However, my best friend has never been to New York either. He has only seen New Yorkers on television.
What is a normal New Yorker?
I am Benedict. I come from Germany. I have been living in New York for a month.
It’s Autumn now and the weather here is cold, but it is fun in New York City.
I need to learn English. I haven’t learned a lot of English yet. First, I must speak English in real life. And that is not so easy.
I live in Manhattan. People from all over the world live here. I live in an apartment. I live in my apartment with three other men. Our apartment is nice.
I have one roommate from Brazil. His name is Lars. Lars is funny. I have another roommate from China. His name is Zimo. Zimo is intelligent. My 3rd roommate’s name is Alexander. He is from Ukraine, and he is different from Lars. He is quiet and calm.
We all visit different places in New York together.

WE ARE ALL TAKING an English class together. Our classroom is a very interesting place! We take our class on the 38th floor of the Empire State Building.
Although our classroom is in an interesting place, our teacher is boring.
Our teacher’s name is Mrs. Hennessy. She is old and boring. I feel bored when
