    Chapter 1

The day I became Invisible was also something I already experienced from being Homeless the last couple of months. I was down on my luck when one day I took a chance. After being locked up for twenty years for a crime I did not commit, I was released into the world. Yeah I am still mad and I got revenge on my mind. My ex friend Terry lied.  He told the investigator I was at his house the night his Dad died. That night I got suckered punch from behind while I was getting into my car that night at a grocery store parking lot. When I woke up I was on the floor at Terry house drive way in Queens being arrested. Terry hated me for sleeping with his ex-girlfriend, Niala and getting her pregnant. His Dad was a High profile Detective and Terry had connections with the high ups to make me the Fall guy.

After twenty years I was released to a world where all my family and friends died or moved away. Except for my son and her mother. I was incarnated at age 20, and my son was only 6 months. Now I am 40 years old, I stay at shelter and I have no money.

The Day I got my powers I saw an ad on the newspaper. The print was very small. But the most important thing in bold letters that stood out to me was ANYONE WHO PARTICIPATE IN THIS EXPERIMENTAL TRIAL RESEARCH WILL RECEIVE $2000. So of course I needed the money desperately. It was close to the holidays my son was visiting his mother from college for the holidays. I wanted to get him something. The clinic was located in Jersey City, so I hopped on the Path train. It was like two o clock in the afternoon on a cold December day. I remember I had on my white uptown sneakers with a blue jeans and a blue denim jacket on. I also had a black huddle underneath the denim jacket. While on the train, all I could think about was the money. Lost in my thoughts sitting down, the train stopped and a beautiful woman that I knew entered the train. She was a security guard, her name was Eliana. She was a beautiful Dark skin sister from Nigeria.

I always wanted to holla at her but being in place like the shelter takes the heart away from any true man because the object is to get out the shelter. I seriously wanted to get the hell outta that place. The food is worst than jail. Some of the people in the shelter I live in are seriously mentally ill  and they are mixed up with the regular mentally stable people. Every night there is an argument in the TV room, cafeteria, and Dormitory.

Eliana sat down directly across from me and she was on the phone talking angrily. I presume she was talking to her boyfriend or husband. On her beautiful face I noticed she had wound above her left eye. It was dark swelling around her eye as if someone hit her.

It's over Mark you not going to get away for putting your hands on me. I called the police. Stop calling my phone because the Police are going to arrest you  Eliana said before hanging up the phone.

I looked at her as she place her cellphone in her red coat pocket. She had on white pants with brown boots. The train was a little crowded but when she looked up she noticed me.

Surprised to see you on the train, what's up I said to her looking at her face trying not to stare at her swollen black eye.

Well I didn't want to drive today my car is at the mechanic. What are you doing here? Visiting family, looking for work, or housing she asked me.

In crowded train full of people I felt a little awkward answering that question so I got up sacrificed my seat, allowed someone else to sit down, so I could stand close to Eliana.

I leaned over to her and said Nah I'm actually trying to get some extra cash from a spot that need people to participate in a program. Imma find out what they need when I get there so are you aight I asked. Trying not to stare at her wound around her eye. The train rocked back and forth as it made a sharp turn within the tunnel, and the ride was little bumpy especially standing up.

I'm ok. I was arguing with my Ex. I'm so done with him and I hope he gets arrested. Eliana said

I could tell you heated by the way you was talking on the phone, if there's anything i could do to help let me. Where are you headed too I asked

I'm headed to work Eliana said

The train stopped at the train station that I was supposed to get off of. I looked around and then look back at Eliana. I wanted to say more. I wanted to ask her for her number. But I chose not too.

Aight Eliana I hope your day get better and I will see later you know I ain't trying to miss the curfew it's cold outside and I hate waiting for the bed in the Lobby I said leaving the train.

You better not Eliana said waving to me as the train door closed.

As I exited the train station I thought about how some of the security guards act at the shelter act like they were Correction officers. The way they are unprofessional, they way speak and ask you take everything out your pockets. Some act like they just want a check and go home, and some act cool as hell. But Eliana was cool as hell the type that listens. The type that say May you please or Good morning. Sure she was very beautiful and guys try to hit on her all the time, especially working in a Men Shelter. But she was mature, firm, and she carried the kind of respect that you want to respect her. She was not a push over either. I saw a couple times she let the clients know she is not allowing food into the facility. A couple of times I saw her tell a client that she won't tolerate any disrespect and is just doing her job. She even called the cops on a guy that showed his private parts to her. I wonder why she works at this place sometimes but hey that is not my concern, everyone needs a job.

I walked through the station towards the exit and then paced myself with a light jogged up the stairs. As soon as my foot touch the top landing I felt the cold air hitting my body. I thought to myself that I should have wore a scarf but fuck it . I went into my pocket and pulled out the newspaper that was folded up into a square. I unfolded the paper not paying attention to my finger tips getting numb from the freezing temperature. I looked at the address and then looked around to see my locate my bearings. I was close to the clinic. It was like a block away.

As I walked down the block I could see the building in my eye sight. I was shock to go to the newly constructed tallest building in the world. They call the new building Jersity City Tower. In downtown Jersey City, the hustle and bustle atmosphere was the same as being in New York City. Everything was still prevalent despite being separated by just the Hudson river. The street pavement had a little ice still left from yesterday snow storm that dropped three inches of snow. The entrance to the building I was walking towards had 4 revolving doors. Two of the revolving door were for entering the building the other two revolving door was for exiting the building. One person slipped on a tiny piece of ice right in front of me. I stopped held my hand out to help the person up. The person was a young man, he probably was in his early twenties. He had a huge gray bubble coat. I tried not to laugh but the expression on his face made me laugh. When I laugh he punched me in my stomach and then threw another punch to my face. I was stunned and felt shock if pain.

    You Fucking asshole I said

I tackle the young cat to the floor. He threw more punches but I blocked every punch with my forearm, gave him a left hook and put him in a headlock. We both struggled for a while until the Cop's showed up. We both let each other go and I ran through the revolving door that were meant to enter the building.

I could hear the police sirens loud behind me. I looked back and saw two police officers questioning two people about what the disturbance was all about then the pedestrians pointed at my direction. The police officers looked at me but not directly at me, I blended into a crowd within a huge lobby. Casually I walked toward the elevator, moving at the same pace as everyone around me, I didn't want to stand out by rushing towards the elevator making a scene so the Cops could arrest me.

Someone pressed the elevator button and I camouflaged into a of pedestrian waiting for the elevator to come down in the lobby. As I stood casually with the group I heard the sound of the Police officers radio getting louder and louder. I wanted to turn around but if I did that would give me up as someone suspicious who probably fit their description. So I remain still. I knew any engagement with the Police would lead me straight back to jail. A cold sweat ran down my forehead. I could feel they getting closer and closer. Some people started to look back. The elevator door opened and I cautiously walked into the elevator cart.
