    PREFACE

This is a fictional novel inspired by the injustice to African-Americans by the police department. Imagine success leading to revenge, then revenge leading to pain. At the end of reading this book, you will understand what I mean. This book is about a man who became a ghost after being beaten, brutalized, and tortured by three police officers. His main goal was to administer the same treatment he received before his death in ten times fold. In the process of his revenge, the main character Shakur Zion, went through danger, romance, deception, reincarnation, and finally a conclusion. But does this conclusion yield peace?

    Khalil Dosso.

    Chapter One

The young soul I chose was a hood soul that was not at peace. He was headed to prison if he continued his road of behavior. He is 17 years old, and just dropped out of high school. I am a wandering ghost floating between earth and the afterlife. Seventeen years ago, I died a violent death. I was tortured to the point of death and shot in the head. They made me watch myself die by placing me in front of a bathroom mirror, and shot me in the head.

Now, I seek revenge on the officers that took my life. I waited for seventeen years because I did not know how to change the physical realm, but as the years progressed, my understanding of being a spirit expanded beyond physical boundaries. I can possess other people’s body and enter their dreams. In the dream world, my power is at its apex.

I can make nightmares seem real. I don’t know how long I have left as a wandering spirit because for the last two years, the grim-reaper has been chasing me. Each time I engage it, it seems like it keeps getting harder to escape the grim-reaper's grasp. I know my time to enter the spirit world for eternity will eventually come, but now, I put my efforts into seeking revenge for the end of my past life.

For the past seventeen years, I watched the three guilty officers portray an innocent image to the world, and living happily ever after. Two out of the three officers became police captains, the other officer became a police commissioner. They all received promotions through years of extorting hustlers, robbing the kingpins that supplied weight for the hustlers then sold it back to the streets. After robbing the kingpins, the kingpins were either killed or arrested.

The high profile arrest is what led the three officers to advance in professional rank. My strategy for revenge is taking them out at their highest emotional point, then show them pain and suffering. How I plan to do that is by possessing a young black man, then mold him to become a powerful drug lord, earning so much money that it will attract the crooked cops to get at me, or shall I say Malik?

I chose him because he lived close to the old neighborhood that I grew up in, 17 years ago. We both have some things in common and I saw that he had the will to become very successful, he only needs some guidance. He is smart and trust his instincts more.

    Chapter Two

It was a cold rainy day in New York City. The date was December 7, 2009. Two weeks before the holiday, Malik entered the cab, leaving from his girlfriend’s apartment in Queens. I’m going to Rockaway Ave in Pacific St. Malik said to the cab man. The cab driver nodded and said $15. Malik didn’t argue, he only gestured for the driver to keep driving.

Because I could read Malik’s mind, I knew he only had $600 on him. He brought out the dollar bills in his pocket and started straightening them up. As he was doing that, he was worried about whether he had time to buy everybody in his family a Christmas presents, and see everybody on the same day.

The streets are busy around this time of the year, no matter how cold it is. Since I have been in contact with Malik, he has gained the trust of his clients because of his quality service. I showed Malik the INS and OUTS of the game.

Today is a very important day because today he is going to buy a gun and rob one of the officers that killed me seventeen years ago.

    Chapter Three

The beginning of my plan started with a mild payback. I wanted to show the officers, particularly Harry Vincent that they were not untouchable. Harry Vincent or shall I say Captain Vincent was the cockiest out of the three cops that killed me. He is also the most racist. Ending his string of good-luck is the beginning of the psychological tone I want to set.

Malik was still counting his money, and studying the window to see how close he was to his destination. When I appear in my astral-plane form i.e. translucent, meaning light can pass through me, I am barely visible in the light but in the shade and in the complete absence of light, I can be viewed.

My psyche connection with Malik’s mind allowed me to appear as if another person was actually in the cab with him. I appeared in my 28 years old form, and sat next to Malik that was dressed in a shiny purple tuxedo out-fit, smoking a cigar. What’s up, Young G, I said. I especially love the color he was wearing because it is my favorite color when I choose to appear at my will.

    Chapter Four

I hid my true form from Malik. This is a hideous decaying image of a body without flesh that deserves to be in hell. I was inhuman. My face had no skin. But I control my reflection as I surprise Malik, appearing out of thin air. Damn, you scared me, just popping up like that, Malik said.

What’s up? How is your wifey? Is she still tripping about showing up late to pick her up from work? I asked. Nah, she is over that. We talked about it. We are cool, Malik said.

Listen, Malik. Today, I need you to cop a hammer from the tenant in apartment 14G. It cost $400. Don’t worry. Just approach him no later than eight o clock. Also, I want you to press the young cat that owes you money for the dice game, and finally after work, go to the Bronx and get off 138th street by 1:30 AM, and make sure you bring the hammer, I said.

Yo! Hood Ghost. That is a lot of things to take care of. I don’t know the person from apt 14G. Why would he sell me a gun? And the young cat that owes me money is Moses. I can’t stress $50 when I can just learn from my mistakes, and not gamble. Finally, after work I got to meet up with my new honey, Maria, from Bushwich, Malik said.

Hood Ghost eyes glowed brighter. Let’s not be philosophical here. You know I won’t lead you wrong. The tenant in apt 14G is going to think you are somebody that regularly comes to him because I am going to be there. The young cat last night was plotting to rob you. He mentioned it, but didn’t have enough support from his homies. If you smash him early, it would make your ascend to the top of the streets, a lot less bumpier. That young cat name Moses is a bug that might recruit an army against you. When all this is done, it’s all about money over bitches. So, your new honey from Bushwich would have to wait till tomorrow night. Alright Young Blood? I said.

Alright Hood Ghost, Malik said. Hood Ghost is what he calls me, but my real name before I died was Shakur Zion. The cab driver drove through the flooded streets, heading to the borderline of Brooklyn and Queens. Once we entered Brooklyn, Malik started to change his clothes to his job uniform, which is security. He worked for a ghetto company that only brought in $200 a week; however the illegal market from the building is crazy.

In this building, Malik got a shawty named Sade. She lives on the third floor in the residential building Malik work for. She sells crack and e-pills for Malik. Malik gets the drugs and Sade distributes it. Meanwhile Malik is a security guard at the front door. He takes weeds from customers, and let the crack in that he knows won’t cause problems. Malik also have a partnership with a cat named Ton.

Ton is a pimp and untrustworthy, but when it comes to business; you have to take a risk. I will make sure Ton doesn’t cross Malik. If he does, he would lose mad credibility since he is a pimp and the object of the game is to steal his hoes.

    Chapter Five

The cab-driver continued to drive until he got to Rockaway Ave, then made a left turn. The Car radio suddenly got Malik’s attention. He heard the weather forecast that the rain would become snow by Ten’0clock. Malik knew that tonight was going to be a long night. It was 2:50 pm, in the neighborhood of east New York, Brooklyn.

The cab pulled alongside to the main entrance of the building. Hood Ghost got out of the cab first by simply passing through matter. Malik paid the cab driver $15, and exited the cab. Hood Ghost levitated from the ground
