About this ebook

Usually, when people talk about publishing schedules, they are looking for tips and tricks to get more books out in a year in order to maximize sales. This is not that kind of book.

Writing should be something we can enjoy. Taking on too much can lead to burnout, and burnout can ruin your joy. This book is for writers who want to write and publish at a comfortable pace that they can sustain for the long term.

It doesn't matter how many books you get out per year. It doesn't matter if you're a fast writer or a slow writer. What matters is that you figure out your sweet spot. This book is intended to work with you. I've been publishing ebooks since 2009, and I've published just over 100 between this name and my pen name. The key to setting up a realistic publishing schedule is to go at your pace, whatever pace that may be.

Topics in this book include the following:
1. Creating a Schedule that is Right for You
2. Forming a Routine
3. Is it Possible to Write Fast and Have Quality Content?
4. What if You Don’t Feel Like Writing?
5. When You Have Trouble Finishing Your Book(s)

Author

Ruth Ann Nordin

Ruth Ann Nordin has written almost 100 romances, ranging from Regencies to historical westerns to contemporaries. She plays with other genres from time to time, but her first love is romance. She has been happily married for twenty-two years to a sweet and funny guy, and they have four sons, who are all taller than Ruth now that they're 16, 17, 19, and 20. The good thing is she doesn't need a ladder. She considers herself very lucky to have led such a charmed life. Being able to play with characters and create stories is just icing on the cake. Hopefully, she'll get to keep doing this many years to come.

Creating a Schedule That is Right for You

The goal of this book is to help you create a publishing schedule that is realistic for you. Regardless of how fast you write, having a plan in place will help you position yourself for success. The key is to make a plan that works with your life. In this book, I’m going to offer some ideas to help you in this endeavor.

With that being said, let’s take a look at how you’ve been writing in the past.

    1. What is your best writing method?

Some people write faster than others. Some people write their first draft quickly but then go through the process of rewriting. Others write their first draft slowly but don’t do much rewriting at all. Some people polish up and edit each chapter as they write, and other people don’t edit a single thing until the first draft is done. Whatever system works for you, you’re better off using it than trying to imitate someone else’s method. I believe you will make the most progress when you do what is natural for you.

    2. What is the average length of time it takes you to write one book?
